I just came back from seeing Mike and getting a training session in while there - I LOVE training at World. It's awesome :)
So for the first time in 7 (yes, that is not a misprint, I did purposely type 7) weeks my scales dropped today. Not significantly - actually, only 0.4kg, but they still dropped.
My skins were down 5.5mm from last visit, which was 3 weeks ago - so not a lot...but I am pretty convinced all 5.5mm was this week! I am not doing too badly, calculated it when I got home and I am at around 11.5% body fat which isn't too bad at all. I am just a lot bigger than I am used to being when at this bf level, so it makes me feel like I should be smaller - does that make sense? I quite obviously put on a shit load of size over the off season, which I am starting to like now that I am getting a tiny bit leaner. We were talking about my training split and Mike was actually amazed at the size of my biceps, which are fricken massive if I do say so myself. The only problem is that my shoulders aren't big enough for the size of my arms. So we are cutting down the arm work. In fact he has thrown an extra rest day in per week which prob isn't such a bad thing - up til now I have been training 6 days a week with weights, on and off season. So cutting back to 5 with just cardio on that 6th day - will prob get some of my energy back.
After my skinfolds and general training chit-chat with Mike was done, he introduced me to Big Luke Wood. I write Big with as a proper noun as seriously, Big should be this guy's formal first name. He is a unit!! I usually catch a glimpse of him when I go to see Mike as they train legs together most Saturdays (I see Mike at the end of his training session), but haven't actually met him so it was nice to do so today. BLW (easier to write) is actually training Mike now cos Mike is competing this year - I can't wait to see him up on stage. For any of you who haven't seen Mike, he is a tank. He goes in the Super Heavyweight division, is a giant (I would estimate somewhere between 6'5" to 6'7" at a guess) and weighs like 130kg. So will be awesome to see him get up there too!!
Hit the legs after that - again - in case they weren't smashed enough from my hectic legs week (see earlier posts, and add to that that I did an RPM class this morning when I woke up just cos I seem to like torture).
Am very undecided about tonight's cheat but leaning towards Thai. Not good, healthy stir-fry Thai either - hell, I figure if I'm gonna have a cheat, do it right and go something I LOVE but never eat, like Pad Thai!! I can eat stir-fry food when dieting!! hehe
Work tomorrow...then get to hang with the TANK tomorrow night :) We gonna do a bit of a walk if the weather permits, cook a bit of diet food for dinner, and have a slumber party at hers lol. I am teaching spin at 6am Monday morning a lot closer to her place than mine so easier to crash there and save me a 4.30am wake up Monday morning :)
OK on that note better jet. Catch you all later.
xx

Me again!! I am a blog junkie already!!
Wow, 2 posts in one day...this blogging thing is addictive!!
Had an ok day today. Went and trained back after last post. Chin ups, cable rows, single arm rows, cable v-pulls, and hyper-extensions. 4 sets of everything, the last set of every exercise (except extensions) was a drop set. Ended the session with a 35 min treadmill stint - 1/2 of it doing intervals, the other half alternating between incline backwards walking, and incline running. Was going to switch my walk tonight for a boxing class but to be honest I am wrecked as have done some pretty heavy duty training/cardio sessions this week - so took Trixie for a walk (it's her first since being sick with pancreatitis - and true to her ADHD nature, she still has energy!!), and have been doing one minute skipping drills on-and-off since to make up for the missed boxing session (see how mental us figure chicks can be!!)
If you read my earlier blog you will know that I have done a bit to the old legs/glutes in the last couple of days...well while I was training back today I had the weirdest cramp in the world. Believe it or not - it happened while doing single arm rows. Whenever I reached down, I got a really sharp cramp (almost like someone was sticking a skewer in) in the glute of the extended leg. It was really painful but pretty funny at the same time!! It was kind of making me jump, which I am sure was quite entertaining to watch!! lol
Hmm not much else to report on...oh must give a shout out to you guys who have posted comments recently...thanks for reading - and it's nice to hear that I am not the only person who is encountering some of these weirdo's (CB & arm wrestle girl haha)!!!
No doubt you will hear more from me over the weekend....after my skinfolds...WISH ME LUCK!!!
Til then train hard & be good :)

Random thoughts
I thought I would start this post with pics of my 2 babies, Felix & Trixie...aren't they CUTE!!
These little guys (OK so it's a boy and a girl) have been my rock in the last few weeks, I have been pretty stressed out and down about a few things and they just seem to know that things aren't 100%.
Anyway so the week has gone by quite quickly. Nutrition has been (almost) excellent. I say almost because due to work stuff there were 2 days this week where I couldn't fit one of my meals into the day, but I compensated where I could with a little extra in some of the other meals. Oh and there was one lolly thrown into my week, a redskin...which may not sound like a lot but to me it is cos I NEVER cheat (except on my one designated cheat meal per week). But as they say - just pick up and move on.
Training has been good, have done a few classes this week in place of the boring cardio machines. I actually got to the 5.45am RPM class yesterday morning (despite not having to wake up early for work) and survived the entire 45 mins with the most boring, monotoned instructor in the world. I'm not sure why I decided on that class, I know how much I struggle to survive through this guy's classes (have even been known to get up and walk out when he is really doing my head in - usually via singing into his microphone, and NO I am NOT joking!!) and did the THT class last night - barely got through....not sure what possessmed me to do a Tummy, HIPS AND THIGHS class after having done a massive legs session Wed and RPM yesterday morning!!
I have back today - YAY - love training back....and thinking of doing boxing class tonight. Will need to do my walk as well at some point as didn't do it when I woke up.
Weekend ahead is fairly low key. I am seeing Mike tomorrow to have my skinfolds done for the first time in 3 weeks. I can't wait - I need to get them done, hopefully to put my mind at ease. I think things there will be good thought cos this is the first time since I began dieting 8 weeks ago that I really feel like I have been stripping down. I have had about 4 or 5 people comment this week that I am looking leaner - my mum (who is the most honest person with me) told me that up until last week she had thought I was still bulking up but this week I am looking heaps leaner. For some reason, that's what always happens with me - I diet for about 7 or 8 weeks with very little results, then BANG!!! It all starts happening very quickly. The bonus I have this time is there is still 9 weeks til my first comp - normally I only diet hard for 12 weeks but this time I started 17 weeks out of my first comp of the season - so I have an extra 5 weeks up my sleeve. So bigger and leaner this year :)
Aside from that working Sunday, then catching up with Ferny Sunday arvo to do the Bondi-Coogee walk (not sure if we doing the whole thing) - can't wait...me loves hanging out with the Tank!! Yay :)
Anyway better jet. I seem to ramble a lot on this thing!! lol

Hump Day
Hmmm Hump Day.
Slept much better last night, actually slept like a log, got 7.5 hours in which is loads for me - my norm is 5-6 hours which doesn't sound like a lot but 6 is normally just the right amount. If I go over 8 hours I oversleep and feel like a zombie ALL DAY.
Wednesday is legs day (well Legs Day One - I do them Saturday too). Hit the gym after breakfast today as working this afternoon/evening. Had a good session today, pumped out 4 sets of 6 exercises...started the session with isolation movements today for a change. I don't like to keep my training the same all the time, I prefer to shock the body and do things differently every now and then, also keeps me more focussed. Did drop sets on the last set of each of the iso exercises, it's too hard to do drop sets training on your own on the compound stuff like plate loaded leg presses, squats etc...so just upped the reps on those ones instead.
Struggled to get through the cardio today though - not physically though, mentally...I find it a big challenge some (most) days if I do machine cardio to not cut the session short. I always push through but some days it's a bigger challenge than others.
On the CB front, had an uneventful day yesterday which has put me a little more at ease. Maybe the one psychopathic episode was enough lol. Still a little on edge but I don't ever like to completely let my guard down cos you never know what's coming your way in life!
Wednesday is also mum training day lol - that's what I will be doing after logging off here and eating (mmm roo mince, rice and veges on the menu for lunch)...heading over to my parents' place to do a PT session with my mum :) Good way to make sure I spend some time with her!
OK I am off to finish my coffee and make my meals for the remainder of the day :)
Hope you all have a lovely day :) Train hard and be good!

SOOO OVER THE FREAKS
I seem to be a big one for attracting freaks into my life.
Against my better judgement, I have been chatting to someone for months now on facebook, and decided to meet up with him the weekend before last. The meeting went well, he seemed nice. I asked him while there about how he came to find me on FB and request me to be his friend.
Now normally I am pretty wary of strangers sending friend requests, unless I am familiar with their name (eg amongst the bodybuilding / competition circuit), for some reason I don't really consider these people 'strangers' as such. I am ususally pretty picky about people I have never heard of sending friend requests through, and I go through and look at any common friends. If I see (as 9/10 times I do) that the only mutual friends we have are FEMALE athletes, I generally then go into their complete friends list. Most of the time, it is a minimum ratio of 9 females to every male friend on their list, an the majority of those females are figure/physique/sports model athletes. I find this EXTREMELY weird, it's like some kind of fetish in my eyes - and BOOM! "Ignore request" is the next thing I hit...I hate thinking about what is going thru their minds when looking at our photos etc. Call me paranoid but I just think it's weird for someone not involved in this world to have an obsession with it.
Anyway this guy (let's call him "CB", short for Crazy Boy) told me he had come across another figure chick's pic in one of his mates' friends lists, and though it was a bullshit pic as he had never actually met girls who did this type of thing. So he sent a friend request, she accepted, and then he realised that it was for real. He then added another friend, and also sent me a request. All good at this time, I only saw 2 mutual friends, no other bb chicks, didn't think much of it. He went on to tell me that he had since deleted the other 2 as he hadn't really been chatting with them of late and had done a huge friends clean out and deleted the people he didn't talk to.
We had a laugh at that first meeting about people who were obsessed with female athletes and some of the weird people I have previously had on my friends list, who were obsessed with asking questions such as how big my biceps are, how much can I bench, and do I think I can beat them in an arm wrestle? Maybe 'normal-ish' questions as a one-off, but I am talking people who don't even really train obsessively asking these types of questions over and over until I end up blocking them. I am sure that I am not the only person out there getting these questions!
Anyway that meeting seemed to go ok, didn't seem freak-ish or anything. Alarm bells should have rang when I got a text from him within 2 mins of leaving his side (that normally sets the alarms off for me believe it or not - I have this thing for anyone seeming too keen, usually sends me running in the opposite direction at 100mph).
We organised to do a DVD night on the weekend that just went past. He came to my place Friday night and watched comedy stuff. I wasn't feeling it while he was here though. At one point he was holding my hand and rubbing my arm, but not like a normal stroking action, it was like fully rubbing, almost as if trying to feel my arm muscles. I started to get the 'this is a bit strange' vibe around this time but anyway, he ended up leaving not long after that, and wouldn't you know it - he sent me a text within a couple of mins of leaving (so he was obviously driving). This set the alarm bells off for me.
I didn't hear from him over the weekend, but then again if I were online and saw he was too I would quickly mark myself offline cos I just didn't want to chat to him.
Anyway to cut a long story short(er - I know it is already long lol), last night I was writing to a figure chick friend on FB when I noticed on the left hand side of the screen, he was a mutual friend. Looking at her wall, I saw they only became friends in the last week. Which made me very curious as to who else he had added. I couldn't look at his profile for mutual friends as his list is hidden (as is everything. he deletes all his wall posts, history etc. Only has a handful of photos in one album. When I asked him about this he told me he doesn't really use FB, only has it open while doing other things so he can chat to friends. He didn't say he deletes his wall stuff, he just said there's nothing on it as he doesn't use FB much). So I go and type his name into the search field, and didn't click him on my drop-down list. A pop up comes up like when you aren't their friend, showing mutual friends. There were 5. Sure enough - all figure competitors. And looking at their walls, all added last week.
So by now my gut is doing somersaults - not sure if I'm alone here but seriously - is this shit normal??
He sent me a chat following my discovery of all this - and I figured just raise the issue. So I did. He got very defensive, saying that he added people cos last week I called him a hermit (not true - not a word I would use, in fact I believe he said the word hermit during our meeting), that I'm not his girlfriend and sometimes people just don't have a spark, it doesn't mean they can't be friends (WTF??? Is he serious???) I told him I have no issue with who he is friends with, I just found it odd that he had added only bb chicks that he doesn't know - eg why didn't he add any of my other non-athlete friends? Why didn't he add any male BBs?
This conversation went on pretty much one sided after that - he started ranting, raving, calling me a fucking bitch, he thought I was normal when we met, am I on the gear (as in roids) as he has never seen this kind of behaviour, I should get help....in the meantime I am barely replying as he is going off...and I am on the 'remove from friends page'. When I hit 'APPLY' the chat disappeared (thank God!!) but then I get an email before I had the chance to completely block him - telling me not to bother apologising when I come down off my supplements in 5 days, he doesn't want to hear it, please don't ever contact me again (don't worry buddy - no fucking chance of that), via facebook or phone etc.
My only concern is - he now knows where I live. Not a nice feeling - I barely slept last night.
OK now that I am done raving - has anyone else ever experienced anything like this? Do you guys think it's NORMAL when people (specially males but there are also females who do it too) specifically seek out figure/physique chicks to add to their friends???
Hmm RAVE OVER!!! lol. Time to go train - not starting work til 4 today so am going to try get more sleep in later on...

Farewell weekend :(
Another weekend gone :(
I had a pretty good weekend personally...training-wise though was not really to schedule - not that that's always a bad thing. A bit of variety can be what we need most sometimes.
Saturday morning started with my ritual weigh-in. Hmmm I can't understand what's going on but every time I weigh myself I have gained exactly 300g. WTF?? I was 60.1kg Saturday 2 weeks ago, 60.4kg Saturday last week, 60.7kg on Tuesday (unscheduled weigh in, just wanted to see where I was at), and 61.0kg this Saturday. I think someone is playing with my scales trying to headfuck me!! lol
Anyway I couldn't see Mike to get my skinfolds done this week due to work so have to wait til next week. I am hoping to God they have come down otherwise I am in deep shit if the weight is creeping up for no apparent reason. I am eating 150% clean (with the exception of my cheat meal every week but that is scheduled and is written into my diet) and I am interval training like there is no tomorrow at the moment. Anyway no point spending the week speculating, may as well wait til next Saturday to see if I am dropping the fat still.
So anyway I went for my normal pre-brekkie walk yesterday and then went off to work. The plan was to train legs in the afternoon after work...but I was SOOO exhausted. Thought I'd have a power-nap then get up and hit the old gym - nope, didn't work. In the end I figured I would be useless in the gym training while that zapped, so figured it was best to take the day as my rest day and train legs today instead (Sunday is normally rest day).
Went off to Mel Zimmerman's PINK PARTY last night. It was good fun - caught up with some of the girls I haven't seen in forever. Will have to try learn how to post pics on this thing soon - I have some good ones of the spunky boys she had training the girls at her camp yesterday - they are from the Police Tactical Operations Unit and have bods to die for...anyway 2 of the single ones got auctioned off as "slaves" to help raise $$ for breast cancer and we managed to get them to take their tops off and do some push ups with girls sitting on their backs. See what lengths we went to in the name of charity!! lol
Today I hauled my ass to day 2 of Mel's camp. Would have liked to have gone for the full weekend but given I am at a new job wouldn't have looked good asking for my 1st Saturday shift off! It was pretty tough, we had a boxing/kickboxing session which also included loads of push ups, sit ups, planks etc...did a bit of weights, a bit of interval training, and a dance-style aerobics session. Got my cardio in which was great!! Once I got home I decided it was time to hit the old legs. Saturday legs session is not normally a conventional legs session as such (like Wed legs is)...it usually consists of picking a compound leg exercise and doing 10 sets of 20 reps. That's it. It doesn't take that long but fuck me it hurts by about set 6!!
So instead of hitting the gym I decided to do something I could manage at home with the equipment I have for my PT clients. So I grabbed my adjustable dumbells, loaded them up...and did 10 sets of different kinds of lunges - 20 each leg...5 of the sets were walking and the other 5 varied...followed by 5 sets of 20 squats - sumo and bench squats...and some ab work. I don't normally train at home cos I have a stupid concept in my head that it doesn't feel like a proper session....but it did today!! lol
Not much else happened to report on....am about to put together a cd for my spin class tomorrow morning, have already prepped my meals...so will be off to bed after that as have to be up at 4.45am!! eeek!!
On that note...be good :)

My Fave Things...
Haha I guess it's my turn now...
1. Weight training body part?
This month - legs. It varies probably month to month, not sure why!!
2. Cardio exercise?
A machine called the TreadMaster. I have only ever seen it in one gym though. It's bloody awesome, it's like a treadmill but the walking platform is split in half - one for each foot. It moves up and down as you walk. It burns on average 900 cal an hour, without going at a mega-crazy pace. Unfortunately I rarely get to this gym so have only used it a few times.
Aside from that, Spin class if I'm teaching it - that's almost the only time I enjoy cardio - when I'm getting paid to do it!!
3. Intervals or steady state?
Definitely intervals
4. Carbs – friend or foe?
They're my friend in my mind (LOVE EM!! I'm Italian - it would be unnatural for me NOT to love my pasta and bread!!) however in reality they don't do me any favours. I try to stick to non-wheat based carbs on and off season. Oats are my fave diet food :)
5. Cheat meal?
See above - my fave cheats are pasta (red, meat based sauce), wood fired pizza, and gelato
6. Treat?
With Fern on this one...gotta be the deep tissue massages!! LOVE PHIL!!!
7. Protein Powder?
Ultimate Nutrition Iso Sensation Whey in Choc or Cookies'n'cream, Max's Nite Time protein
8. Gym outfit?
Everlast racer-back top and 3/4 tights
9. Runners/Shoes?
Nike Free - they are like walking around in socks, so comfy!!
10. Clean or Dirty Diana? (clean healthy food or healthy with naughty extras)
always feel better with clean healthy
11. Inspiration?
Seeing my clients achieve their goals - sometimes goals they thought were unattainable
12. Fat Loss Philosophy?
It's not rocket science - eat clean, train hard, be consistent
13. Favourite Fitness Related Store or Brand:
Probably Lorna Jane
14. Last fitness related item you picked up?
I just finished work (at the gym) so probably a weight plate that some inconsiderate guy left on the floor
15. Your fitness philosophy?
Again - train hard, be consistent, and the results will come :)

Aaah weekend :)
Feeling so-so today. Had about 7 hours sleep which is pretty good for me...unfortunately it was very broken so not feeling the effects of 7 hours worth :(
Training was pretty good today. Back day - love training back. It's probably my strongest body part - which is pretty ironic given that I initially took up the old weight training to strengthen it after breaking several vertebrae in an accident.
Did intervals on the cross trainer after weights, I never use the cross trainer cos it usually bores me to tears but it actually wasn't so bad today. I finally found my chest piece for my Polar heart rate monitor while I was packing to move house, so have been wearing it the last few days and it kind of keeps me occupied while interval training, cos I am constantly focussing on getting my heart rate up and down. You know what they say though...small things...lol
Working tomorrow, gym floor shift which normally I don't enjoy as much as PT'ing but since I only started at this gym earlier this week, it's good to do the gym floor shifts, good way of meeting members / potential clients - and it's guaranteed $$. I trained there today and saw on the roster that they have given me more shifts permanently which is a good thing. Was starting to panic a bit cos to cut a long story short, I got screwed over when moving house - I moved area completely and was supposed to get a transfer from the gym I was working at to one closer to where I am now - only last Friday the boss (who has basically been talking up the job she had for me for oh, 5 weeks) decided to tell me she no longer needed me to work there when I thought I would be starting there this week. Pretty fucked but what do you do?
Anyway enough of my whinging, I am so glad it is the weekend - even if I am working tomorrow...it's nice that when I am home others are too - been going out of my mind this week!!
OK gotta run, got some chicken breast and veges to go buy...the joy lol

Jumping on the bandwagon
So I have decided after following loads of other blogs that it was time I start posting my own.
For those who don't know me, my name is Vicki and I'm a figure competitor. I am on my way into my 4th comp season at the moment, 7 weeks into the diet...and 14 weeks til it's over for another season :)
I have decided to do 3 comps this season, all in May, beginning with the INBA Sydneys, followed 3 weeks later by the ANB Sydneys, and finishing up with the ANB Asia-Pacs a week later. Big season ahead but BRING IT ON, I say.
Dieting so far has been pretty easy. I have Mike Nysten looking after me and he's tops...am still allowed one cheat meal a week at the moment which I love! LOL... Am a big sucker for gelato (and if none available, normal ice cream will do!!) and have managed to squeeze it in every week so far :)
BUT in saying that it keeps me sane, and focussed - in 4 comp seasons I am yet to cheat on a diet outside my scheduled cheat meal.
So this season I have decided to come in bigger and better. I did 3 comps last season too and lost too much size by the end I think...the ANB Nationals I came in weighing 49.5kg which is too small I think, specially when the girls in figure seem to be getting more and more muscular each season (am I the only one who thinks that??)
I managed to put on a shitload of weight in the off-season...12.3kg to be exact...BUT in saying that I wasn't too unhappy about that cos as I said - BIGGER AND BETTER this year!! In 7 weeks of dieting I have only dropped 1.1kg of the weight I put on...and was initially freaking out BUT my skinfolds are dropping - meaning my training and dieting isn't having a catabolic effect...I am still gaining muscle while losing body fat. WOOT!! I have finally managed to do it :)
The only downside is that I seem to be holding a shitload of water at the moment so have a bit of a belly at the moment - only sometimes though, but I know that will go.
SO I have decided to steer clear of the scales, except on the days I have my skinfolds done, so that I can work out my BF%. Other than that they mean absolutely nothing.
I trained chest today, got a pretty good session in, finished each exercise with a dropset (except push ups off fitball...hard to make that a dropset, but it was an additional exercise anyway). I did the 545am RPM this morning and did a 40min walk (backwards) on the treadmill after training. Am trialling a new fatburner that I picked up from ASN last week and it is THE BOMB!! I swear I start sweating before my warm-up set is even done let alone by the time I hit the cardio :) Gotta love that!!
Cardio didn't seem so bad today but it's still my one pet hate. Does anyone out there actually like it?? The only time I don't seem to mind it is the days I teach spin - it's not so bad to sit on a bike when you're getting paid for it :)
ANYWAY I'm logging off this thing before I ramble any more!! First post and already talking your ears off lol. Blame the Italian blood ;)
Til next time - be good or be good at it!!
