Sunday's ramble

I can't believe it's Sunday already. I mean, where did the week go? I can't believe it's already the 3rd last day of March!!!!

So not much been going on in my world. After last post I did a pretty good back session but didn't make boxing in time, so had to do boring machine cardio. My little cousin happened to be at the gym (she turned up for the boxing class I wanted to do) and saw me when she was done...and what do you know??? Asked me, very hesitantly, if I was preggers. It's getting ridiculous now!

So she ended up back at my place too to join me and my other cousin for a coffee, it was great catching up with the both of them :) Had a nice night. The pair of them convinced me though, to go and get a second opinion on my pregnant look. What I failed to mention in last post was that after the last doctor ruled out my bathroom issues as being responsible for the swelling, given I am now empty but with a growing tum, he tried to convince me that I was merely getting fatter and storing fat in my belly for the first time in my life. After arguing with him (and almost walking out) that I know I'm not getting fatter as my skinfolds are coming down (last measure I was around the 10% mark) and my belly is rock hard - if it were fat it would be jelly-like - he felt it and agreed that maybe it wasn't me just putting on fat. I pretty much demanded the referral for pelvic ultrasound. SO anyway I got up yesterday and went off to see my cousin's doctor, who appeared to actually know a bit about medicine. She immediately took my concerns seriously and told me that the symptoms I am having, and the massive swelling, are indicators that there may be something going on with my ovaries. Anyway she sent me straight to pathology for a blood test, the results of which will be in on Tuesday. All ties in with me getting the ultrasound done that day too so will know a lot more after I see her again Tues afternoon. I am feeling a little hopeful that they can find what the issue is and sort it out now.

Trained legs yesterday and blasted them. I did another unorthadox session - consisting only of 10 x 20 reps on the leg press, stacked with 160kg (not sure how much this particular machine weighs but it's a pretty heavy one). That's the heaviest I have ever gone for the 10x20 set workout so I was pretty impressed with myself. Not sure about walking for the next few days but we'll cross that DOMS bridge when it happens lol. Oh I made the last set a drop set - I got my colleague Aftar who was working yesterday to take one plate off at a time til it was just down to machine weight (had 8 plates on), I pumped out between 10-20reps per weight. All in all an awesome session, leaving me nauseous for most of my half hour cardio session that followed!! Some of the regulars saw me when I was just getting onto the crosstrainer, and looked up saying "you just did legs didn't you"!! I think the "I'm about to throw up" look usually gives that one away lol.

ANYWAY aside from that I have had a very boring, low key weekend. I have seriously been too tired of late to do anything, I planned a DVD night last night but was too lethargic to even turn the player on. So I sat on the couch on the computer until I had the energy to shower and go to bed.

Today is a new day though, and I am off to spend the day with Miss Fern. I believe we are going for a kick-ass walk (although she may end up piggy-backing me, haven't warned her of that yet), I think we are making a pitstop into ASN Bondi Junction as Simon (owner) is down for the weekend - besides which I need more supps :) Then we are meeting another figure chick, Claude, for coffee...and then Fern and I are off to COLD ROCK to cement my "no competing this season" decision with a big ice cream cheat meal. Mmmmm Cold Rock....For those who read previous posts during the week you will know I have been looking forward to it all week :)

Anyway will be off now. Hope you are all having a fab weekend. Til next time, train hard and be good :)

A bloody belly big mystery...?

It's funny...I keep reading everyone else's posts, and looking at all your progress pics, and every one seems to be getting smaller and coming in nicely...and then there's me and this Goddamned belly of mine.

So we have had lots of progress this week - well medicine wise, anyway. I have spent sooo much time in the bathroom this week I am actually contemplating getting it renovated so I can fit my bed, computer desk, filing cabinet, laptop, stove, fridge and kitchen sink in there. It is seriously getting beyond a joke - but in saying that it is obviously a good thing that all that junk is leaving my body.

BUT - there is still mystery.

I woke up nice and early for my 5am start at work, and thought 'might step on the scales this morning, after 4 solid (or not so solid? sorry, I know it's really bad humour to be making poo jokes, isn't it?!?!) days of elimination, surely there would be a massive drop on the scales'. Well, I would assume it's normal to have thought that.

WRONG.

The scales have actually gone up a kilo. WTF?

BUT WAIT - THERE'S MORE.

Yep - you are seeing correctly. It hasn't gone anywhere. Hasn't budged. Actually in comparison to last week's pics, it has increased in size (I really should be taking measurements).
Thinking this is getting beyond a joke, I went for my follow up at the docs. Given that I have had so much "activity" this week he is now adamant that the swelling is not related to the clogging I have been experiencing, because obviously that is shifting but the belly isn't. So ladies, back to square fucking one. I am now booked in for a pelvic ultrasound on Tuesday morning to see if they can find anything going on with my reproductive bits. I now have one word. FAAARRRRKKK!!! (Maybe Frankie is right - maybe it IS an alien after all??)
Anyway enough of the tummy talk. Onto other things. For the first weekend in, hmm, not sure - I have the whole weekend off! YIPPEEEEEE! Don't even know what I am gonna do with tomorrow!! I am gonna go train back this arvo, followed by a boxing class, and then my cousin Dani is coming over for a coffee n catch up, which will be awesome. Dani is my very first (and only ever) training partner, we used to train together when I first took up the gym, as she had been a regular gym-goer for years. Now I write her programs lol.
Tomorrow is leg annihilation day # 2 for the week, and no plans for the evening - me thinks a DVD night may be on the cards!!
Sunday is my catch up day with the fabulous Miss Fern. Then back to the grindstone come Monday.
Hmm ok been rambling for way too long now so will be off.
Hope you all have an awesome weekend :)

Wednesday Blog

Wow, what a creative title I have come up with today lol.

Well people, we have had 2 and a bit days of action with the belly (the bit being this morning, given it's only 7.30am and it started at 6am...I call that action) however the baby look has not budged...I still look about 7 months preggers. I have Friday off work so will get myself back to the Doc's for a verdict then, hopefully the bulge has diminished somewhat by then...cos currently it is making every day a fat day!!

I have very mixed feelings about not competing in May. I had my heart set on it, new bikini ready, comp bag all prepared etc...but I know I need to be 100% on game and I'm not so it's better this way.

I trained (or should I say obliterated) legs yesterday and felt awesome afterwards...did squats, leg press, stiff legged deadies, extensions, curls, and calf raises, 4 sets of 20 for everything...DOMS set in badly last night at work, the end of the shift was killer to say the least, picking up all the weights off the floor was agonising!!

Today is rest day so cardio only, can't do anything too high intensity due to leg pain lol...not to mention fear of anything high intensity being too much for my tummy to handle at the moment!

I have come up with a new recipe that I am loving and is very comp diet friendly...about to go buy some more ingredients for it now so can make a few more days worth. Basically I fold 2 egg whites, chopped mushroom, spinach, tomato, and garlic paste into 500g either turkey or kangaroo mince, and whack it in the fry pan. No fats needed due to the egg whites. I have been experimenting with diff veges in the last couple of weeks and the different minces and it is delish...especially in a salad :)

I got ANOTHER job offer yesterday lol...followed about an hour later by a call from a gym I sent my resume to about a month ago, to discuss job opportunities there...can't believe it! About 6 weeks ago I was trying so hard to find local work...and now I am getting on average 1-2 offers a week!! Go figure? When it rains....lol

I have booked in for a massage tomorrow straight after work and can I just say...I CAN'T WAIT!! It has been WAY too long since I had one done and I am in desperate need. The knots in my shoulders/back/neck are going to need a lot of elbow work to say the least!

Not much else going on to report on, just been working working working. Looking forward to my cheat this weekend - the plan is to smash down some COLD ROCK...mmmm I LOVE COLD ROCK!!! hehe

Better jet-ski, the cardio is waiting...

Train hard n be good,

Game Over (for now)

So I woke with a bit more clarity today.

I am pulling out of the May comps to concentrate on getting my health back to normal, which I have realised in the last few days is not going to be a quick-fix - guess I didn't want to think that way though.

I called Mike to tell him and he thinks it's the best thing for me. I am going to continue to train as normal, keep eating clean with the odd cheat here and there (ODD being the operative word!! I think I will try to keep it at one meal a week, that being said I have just had 2 rows of well-deserved dark chocolate with almonds to seal my decision, and as a bit of an 'end to the stress'), but add a few more carbs back in and back off the cardio a little. I will still see Mike regularly (prob once a month for now rather than weekly) as we still want to bring my skinfolds down slowly - I will be doing a fair few shows in the Sept/Oct season, hopefully including the INBA Natural Olympia, so the intention is to stay ahead of the game, given I have 10 weeks of solid comp prep up my sleeve 6 months out....that way there won't be any panicking at comp time. At last measurement (last week) I was at about 10.5% body fat but that being said, I am holding a lot of weight that I probably wouldn't be if my digestive system was actually working so that percentage may be a little inaccurate. Either way, if I can continue to drop that at a slow and steady pace I am going to be in top condition come 6 months.

I am sad about the decision but relieved at the same time, I was under a lot of pressure because my progress hasn't been as good as it normally is, and it was doing my head in a fair bit.

Anyway I just wanted to put an update on - I guess the decision feels more final when I have let people know.

Til next time, train hard and be good.

Aaarrrggghhh

I have just gotten home from watching the Australasians. I love going to watch comps :)

The quality of competitors this year was really good for the most part - unfortunately there weren't that many!! 'Specially female - seriously, 2 novices, one masters and 6 opens for figure. Zero fitness, zero physique. They didn't even break the opens up into heights!!! But as I said the standard was there, and most competitors put on a great show, specially Nick Jones and Michael Galley in the Under 80kg mens who were being very playfully competitive on stage and made it quite entertaining.

The guest posers were awesome too!!

On a downer however, Mike was at the show and we had a serious talk about the likeliness of me competing in May. I am definitely out for the INBA on 3 May, there is no way I am going to make it in time, because I have not been digesting any food my dieting hasn't been overly effective. I am looking very muscular at the moment but won't lean up enough in time. The meds I have been put on for my tummy haven't kicked in at all, and it's now Day 4... Unless something miraculous happens in the next few days I am pretty much pulling out of the season entirely. Yes it will mean I can focus everything on being in killer condition for the Sept/Oct seasons but I am devastated that after 10 weeks of full on comp prep I am pretty much almost certainly pulling the pin. Mike is determined that my health needs to be my priority - and yes I know he's right - but anyone who has been through comp prep knows how hard it is or could imagine how hard it is to walk away from.

Anyway guess I will be praying for a miracle in the next few days!!

BRING IT ON!!!

I titled this post BRING IT ON, referring to comp prep but it kinda has a double meaning...

I went back to the doc's the other day and we are trying for a medicated solution at the moment... I have been prescribed with a medicine to drink that is kind of like a colonic irrigation but reversed (well not entirely) - I drink this stuff and it is supposed to flush itself into my system, break everything down and remove itself if you know what I mean - well that is the plan. Anyway I have been prescribed with 8 (yes EIGHT) times the normal dose because my problem is so chronic, and have been given a week for it to work. If it fails I have to go back and discuss other options. The doc said it may take up to 3 days to start working on me. It has been 2 days so far so I am still hopeful that given the amount I am taking it will work. Pls keep your fingers and toes crossed for me because I am determined to compete in 43 days!!! lol

Dieting this week hasn't been so hard. I haven't been feeling hungry most days because of my tummy issue, which probably isn't a great thing for my metabolism but it's great for me that I haven't been feeling hunger pains - so some good has come of this :)

I brought my cheat meal forward one day this week and had it last night (Friday) rather than having it tonight as was going out to dinner in Newtown with some of my old workmates from when I worked in the corporate world. We went to one of my old local haunts, an Italian restaurant called Gigi, which does awesome food. I had marinated olives for my starter, a calzone (one of those folded pizzas) with ham, tomato, mushroom and bocconcini for main, and my trusty old gelato for dessert - I ate every last bit of my whole meal and enjoyed every mouthful. I have a gut feeling that this was my last cheat meal for the season so made sure I savoured it :)

Trained like a machine today - I always train awesome after a cheat as I am well and truly carbed up. I got to work early (had to work 9-2 today) and did a half hour on the stepper. When I finished work did one of my 'unorthadox' legs sessions - new one today:
5 x 20 smith machine squats supersetted with 5 x 20 farmers walks (dumbells)
5 x 20 45 deg leg press
5 x 20 close feet smith machine squats
3 x 15 single calf raises
and topped it off with another 20min on the stepper.
I haven't done any ab work in 2 weeks now which sucks cos normally do abs 3-4 times a week but I just can't bear the thought of doing stomach work at the moment!! Can't wait til I can do them again!!

Went for a much needed haircut after work, I am growing it out from being short and it was just shapeless so needed to be done. Going to colour it tonight :)

Anyway better jet, gonna go for a walk soon and then have some dinner and an early night....off to the IFBB Australasians tomorrow and CAN'T WAIT!!

Til next post, train hard and be good - and have an awesome weekend :)

Feeling Brighter

Morning all :)

Thought I would blog as have woken in a fairly positive mood today, which is a very nice change from how I have been feeling lately. Feeling leaner (aside from the obvious growth), which is nice for a change.

I have posted one of my comp pics because looking at them always makes me feel more motivated to get off my ass and kick some butt in the gym. This one is from my very first comp....gosh seems so long ago!!

I got my CT done yesterday, and while I haven't been able to get back to the Dr for a verdict as following the scans I had to go to one job, then straight to the other, I am happy to report that nothing additional popped up on the CT. I will be going to the Doc's today to see what they have to say about treatment, so fingers crossed that it doesn't involve a surgeon and his knife.

I have continued training normally in the interim because I really have no idea what is going to happen from here but am very hopeful that it is still GAME ON for May! Did an awesome legs session on Tuesday night and yesterday was rest day. Both days I missed my 2nd cardio session - simply due to lack of time (unavoidable due to work and time spent getting tests done) but got up this morning and went off to the 5.45am RPM class. Just had my fave brekkie - oats with protein powder - this morning was Creme Caramel....mmm love my protein oats, even in the off season!!

Don't start work til 12 today so planning to get there at 10am and do the rest of the day's training - Chest/Triceps, and second cardio session - before I start. Then off to the doc's after work.

Having dinner with Mum tonight which will be nice, haven't had one-on-one time with her in ages, so was nice when she asked me yesterday if I wanted to go over for dinner tonight. Dad is off to Melbourne early this morning for the weekend (the sacrafices men make to play golf, I dunno!!) so she is there on her own for tonight, but she's off down the coast with one of her friend's for the weekend too.

Anyway better jet, will probably post again once I have been to the doc's...keep your fingers crossed for me!!

Til then...train hard & be good,
Vic xx

The belly story continued

I present to you, my Blogland friends, the infamous swelling belly (please note burn mark down centre of upper abdomen as described in Friday's post).
I am looking at the photos I just took of my tum and can't believe that this belly belongs to a person over 9 weeks into a competition diet. WTF!!!
So I had my ultrasound and x-rays done today...and apparently I have a "prominent loop of small bowel" and (block your ears if you get grossed out easily) "there is marked faecal loading of the entire colon..." I won't gross you out with any more details but basically I am extremely clogged up. I am having more tests tomorrow morning (CT scan) re the bowel loop but from what I have heard it's not great.
Not sure yet what this means for the May comp season, I guess it will depend on the treatment?
Sorry to be so graphic but I am pretty grossed out, not to mention freaked out, knowing this is happening inside me :(
Will post more when I know more - but at least for now I know there is a reason behind the swelling...SEE told you I'm not knocked up!! lol

YES!! I am POSITIVE I am NOT PREGNANT!!!

As you may guess from this title, the belly has not gone down. Quite contrary, in fact - it is getting bigger. I actually look pregnant most of the time now and it is getting pretty distressing for me, I can't tell you now how many times I have been asked, I even had to go into detail with the doctor about how I KNOW I am not knocked up, lol

I took myself to the doctor on Friday after the last post, about the belly and about my burning incident (confirmed, 2nd degree requiring a cortisone cream - am pretty sure I am going to end up with lovely scarring), I am booked in for an abdo ultrasound and x-ray tomorrow morning...which is going to stuff my eating plan for tomorrow right up as I am not booked in til 830am and can't eat before :( Which sux cos I wake up hungy EVERY DAY!! lol
I am hoping the tests tomorrow show something to give me some answers.

I saw Mike on Saturday too, had only dropped 5mm in 2 weeks - not great given the carb depletion I have been doing, and also only dropped 1.2kg in that time too. He can't work out what is going on with me as I have never responded so slowly to things. Actually the rest of me is responding and leaning up, it's just this tummy. He was pretty concerned as he agrees that 9 weeks into dieting I should not have a belly, and has ordered me to go off and get full bloods done - so another morning this week will have to do the no food til late thing! Not looking forward to that but really really wanting to find out what is wrong. It has got me really down and contemplating whether I am gonna be able to compete in 7 weeks - I can't exactly get on stage with a ripped body and watermelon stomach!

I spent yesterday arvo with Fern, the other half of my brain these days - God love her, she always makes me feel better. I have so much fun hanging out with her, especially since she understands the headspaces I get into lol. We went for a walk to ASN Bondi Junction (stock-up time) and had the most delish kanga-kebabs and salad for dinner. Fern if you are reading this I took myself out today to buy baking powder so I could cook my pre-dinner egg whites the same as last night - YOU ROCK!! lol

I am sooo looking forward to the Australasians this Sunday - will be nice to be a spectator for once and enjoy the show from beginning to end. Will be seeing JD this weekend too as he will be down from QLD for the show and Mike may be on leave by then as his wife is due with their 2nd baby this week - Mike suggested I see JD to get my skins done, but also cos he has spoken with JD about what is going on with me and wants a second opinion. So will be good to hear what he has to say.

Anyway talked enough now. Better jet - hope you all have a great week :)

Train hard and be good

Fun Friday - what a way to end a FAB week??

See picture to the left. This is kind of how I look at the moment - actually my belly is probably a bit bigger.
I woke up Thursday sans aches and pains (yay) but plus tummy cramps. Actually cramps would probably be a more pleasant version - whatever it is I woke up with has now been haunting me for 48 hours, comes on in waves of excruciating pain, and kind of has the sensation of being repeatedly kicked in the guts by someone wearing steel capped boots. Not that that has ever happened to me, but I am imagining if it did, it wouldn't be too much worse than this. Now with the cramps comes an increasingly swollen belly - basically not TOO bad on waking but by mid-morning it is pretty noticable - and by night time I have been looking approximately 8 months pregnant (I actually had someone ask me...) Now given I have been dieting for 9 weeks now - I should not have any form of belly right now!!
Not one to listen to my own advice, I went off to the gym yesterday given the muscle/joint aches had gone and I was feeling considerably stronger than Wednesday evening. Couldn't train as hard as normal and by the end of the weights session I wasn't able to push myself in the cardio arena so I went a bit lighter than normal, and only did one cardio session for the day instead of 2. Today trained back, and did 30min of OK cardio - was going to follow up with a boxing class or a walk tonight but feeling a bit crappy now (both metaphorically and now also literally, just in case you wanted detail) so not sure it is a wise move. I see Mike tomorrow though and because I am feeling so FAT due to this belly thing I feel like I should put the effort in and do some more. Man what a head f$@k!!! lol
To top my week off...I had a 5am start at work this morning, so I got myself out of bed at 4.15am, made breakfast, and figured I would take a thermos full of coffee to work with me rather than drink the rubbish one there. Not a smart idea. Combine 2 weeks of carb depletion with hardly any sleep, and what do you get?? Someone who decided to taste the coffee to make sure it was sweet enough, who managed to spill said boiling coffee out of thermos and down her chin / cleavage...result: second degree burns. Yep. On my chin, and in a straight line from the top of my chest, straight down the middle of my massive belly. The doctor loved me today.
Anyway I am hoping this weekend gets better than my week has been - esp with Mike's visit tomorrow... hell it can't get much worse at this rate lol.
I am really looking forward to this weekend actually, so long as this tummy gets better. I have one of my bestie's 30ths tomorrow night, her hubby has organised a cocktail party at their place for her, and Sunday arvo catching up with the FernSter and having another slumber party!! Yay!!
Anyhow better jet and make the official decision on cardio session #2...
Til next time, train hard & be good x

A Mack Truck drove right through my bedroom last night

Well one must have, because I woke up this morning feeling like I had been run over by one. Quite literally. I got up at 5.45am to go and get a pre-brekkie cardio session in, and initially I just felt like my muscles were heavy - which I put down to the extreme training I had done in the 72 hours prior, particularly in the lower body area. By the time I got my sorry ass to the gym I was starting to think that this might actually be the start of a bug of some kind rather than a mega case of DOMS as initially thought. I did 40mins total - which I struggled through - at a very low intensity, which was all I could manage. There was not going to be any hardcore intervals today, let me tell you.

By the time I had finished training and gotten home for my carbless breakfast (it's a weight-free day today which means also carb free) the aches had spread to my joints as well, and within an hour it even felt like my organs were inflamed (if that is possible!?!)

I dragged my butt to my first shift (Wednesdays is two shift day - one at one gym, then an hour after finishing there start at the other one) heavily dosed up on Panadol to get rid of the hot/cold flushes I was having (yep we is def gettin sick), got through the shift - just - and then took myself off to the second gym. Let me tell you not much got done today....was even feeling too weak to pick weights up off the floor, and stuggled to put things like 10kg plates away.

This is not good peoples!! lol
Am hoping it subsides a little with a good nights sleep tonight, as it's chest / triceps day tomorrow and I am not the type to skip training (prob not always so good - when I was prepping for my 1st comp I actually trained through glandular fever...which as a PT I know is insane but when it comes to myself I don't always find it easy to follow my own advice...)

I would actually like to put the question out there for other competitors - what are you guys like when you are not feeling 100% ? Do you push through and train anyway or do you listen to your body? I know what the right answer is but I want to know what you guys actually do yourselves - am I the only one that finds taking time off when not well hard to accept??

I would love to hear from others (yes once again this is about the mental headspace that us figure/bb chicks get into from time to time lol)

Tuesday's rant

So here we are, at Tuesday - my hump day this week as am only working thru to Thursday (yay for a long weekend!!)

I am glad that last time I saw Mike we added an extra rest day (well an extra day off the weights in any case) on a Wednesday because it will be a fricken miracle if I can actually walk tomorrow. Since last post on Sunday (just after I smashed out a leg session) I have instructed a Spin class Monday morning, a THT class Monday night, and backed it up with another awesome legs session today followed by a split cardio session on the bike and stepper. Hmmm - not sure but thinking that the rower is the only piece of cardio equipment I may be able to use tomorrow - and that's only cos I do it stiff-legged!! Lol

So yesterday morning was a good morning, after Spin I had some brekkie, did some PT clients, trained shoulders & biceps, then onto my new PT client that I mentioned last post. Without going into the finer details she is a comedian and is bloody hilarious. I spent the entire session in stitches and can't wait to train her again next week - it amazes me that some people can manage to be funny when they are incidentally getting smashed!! lol

On my way home I got a call from that gym I went for the interview at last week - the one that has the awesome equipment...they wanted me in for a second interview. So I took myself there in the early afternoon, and not sure yet (they told me they would call me Wednesday at the latest) but I am pretty confident I will be offered a job there. Which means that I am gonna have to give up one of my other jobs if I decide to take it as it is basically Mon-Friday nights. More hours than the gym I am at during the nights as that is only Monday and Wednesday, and every second Saturday... anyway no point making any decisions til I know for sure...

Following that I went off to said Monday night shift, during which I had to instruct my very first freestyle class (THT) - other than Spin but that doesn't count, I find that very easy to instruct. Anyway it was all over the shop, I kept forgetting where I was up to and had to improvise. I am glad the classes before mine were running late and mine was the last one of the night so I cut a couple of tracks out...phew for that!! I apologised profusely to the class for stuffing up (which I might add was packed - I was told it wouldn't be that full as it's the last class for the night) and to my surprise after it quite a few of them told me that had I not apologised they wouldn't have known any better. Not sure if they were just trying to make me feel better lol

Did a little shift today at the other gym, Tuesdays is 'school day' - there are about 4 local high schools that come in on a Tuesday afternoon and so the gym floor is pretty much saturated by school uniforms. Can be both funny and painful - the boys like to show off to eachother (eg how heavy they can lift, which can result in someone being stuck under a bench press that they can't lift back off their chest and their mates can't either) and the girls like to sit on the machines and do absolutely nothing - or on the other hand some of them like to jump on the treadmills and crank them up as fast as they can until they go flying off the back of it. Unfortunately given there are usually about 120 of these kids and 2 or 3 of us on the floor - we don't always get to stop them before the treadmill behind them does!

Not much else to report on. I am very jealous of all those who are heading to watch the pro show this weekend!! Make sure you all take loads of pics :)

OK better jet, I have killed so much time on this bloody laptop today!!

Train hard & be good..

My weekend blow out

I have been debating whether to blog today or not, pretty much all day. Mainly cos my cheat meal last night turned into a binge session and I didn't want to actually post how bad it was - but that is the purpose of this blog - to document all my ups and downs as a figure athlete.

I started the day well, had my weekly weigh in - down 700g since last weigh in. Got to work at the gym a little early to get the day's 1st cardio session out of the way, that was great. By about 12pm I hit a wall, I was feeling very flat and the idea of training legs when I finished work at 2pm was sounding less appealing. Mike sms'd me to see how I went with my weigh in and seemed happy - told me to add a small banana before training each day. That perked me up a little - actually a small banana a day sounded like carb depleted heaven!!

I decided that training when feeling so flat was not going to do me any favours so again I decided to switch my rest day - and train today (Sunday) rather than yesterday. I actually prefer to train on a Sunday as I have my cheat on a Saturday night and don't like taking the day off when I have had a cheat meal the night before.

Anyway in the late afternoon me and my bestie, Meegan, went for a walk - I love having company when I do my walks, it doesn't seem so long and boring :)
I was trying to decide what to do for my cheat meal and was craving a big burger. Meegan's fiance (a triathlete) had not long been home from training - he had done a 180km bike ride - and just wanted to crash - so me and her decided to have a girlie night at the pub.
And this is where it begins.

The pub is an old fave of ours, when we used to live together we used to go up there once or twice a week and everyone would always end up back at our place for more drinks. They have awesome food up there too.

So - the part I have been dreading. I had -
A burger (with the lot, except bacon) with chips and salad, followed by sticky date pudding with butterscotch sauce and icecream.
We shared a bottle of red too.
OK so that is a pretty decent cheat - I wouldn't feel SOOO bad if I didn't then stop at the servo and buy an almond Magnum on the way home.

There, I wrote it.

I actually felt sick when I got home - had to go to bed to get rid of the nausea. It was horrible.

BUT on the upside the energy I had in the gym today was insane. I smashed out 6 sets of leg extensions, 5 sets of leg curls and 8 sets of squats - every set was 20 reps. I followed that with a kick-ass cardio session. I was seriously sweating like a MOFO at the end of it.

Anyway I know I shouldn't dwell on what is in the past - it can't be changed so I guess the best thing to do is move on from there.

On the upside I have finally got my place organised now - bout time, I only moved in like 5 weeks ago!! Lol...I have been waiting to move some stuff I had in storage at my parent's place and it all made its way over here this afternoon. I finally have a proper spare room, my office is now being set up cos it has a desk/bookshelf/filing cabinet, my boxing equipment (punching bag, speedball etc) is now here so I can set it up to train clients, and do boxing sessions myself at home, and loads of clothes that I had at their place - some of which I had forgotten about - is here now too...it was like Christmas!! lol

Anyway I better jet, I have to be up at 4.30am to get to the gym to teach spin and do some morning PT sessions...OH nearly forgot to mention - prob the most exciting thing of my weekend - I called the gym I am working at on Monday mornings to check what clients I had scheduled for the morning - and found out I now have my first celebrity client booked in every monday morning with me :) WOOT!!! Go me!!!

Til next time, train hard and be good xx

What a week!

WOW - what a week...I am pooped!! I went from having hardly any work hours at the beginning of the week to now struggling to fit all the work hours into my days!! lol

I am on day 4 of carb depletion and really feeling it. Wednesday (no carb day) wouldn't have been so bad - given it's a rest day from the weights - if I didn't have to work 12 hours...and this week coming up is no different. Carb depletion makes me quite clumsy and I managed to drop a weight plate on my foot at the end of my first shift on Wednesday. It took a few seconds for the pain to kick in (I knew it was coming) and OMG did it hurt - I initially thought I had broken some bones and all I could think was about not being able to compete. Lucky it wasn't that bad, it still hurts a little but it's just really bruising etc by the looks. Would have been in trouble if it were a 20kg plate instead of a 5kg one, given I dropped it from about chest height.

I worked an extra shift today at the new job, 5.15am start....ouch that hurt lol. But was only a 5 hour shift so it went pretty quickly, and I trained when I finished. This afternoon I went to a training session for the 14 year old footy team an old friend is coaching - some of them are pretty unfit and my mate asked if I could come down and do a fitness session with them, and whip their butts into gear. I had pre-warning that a few of them had made comments like "as if a girl can break us!!", which only made me more determined to whip their asses into action lol. They were dying within the first 10mins of our hour long session - but it was awesome. Marty (the coach) asked them all at the end if they wanted me to come back and they all pretty much said yes - so I have managed to convert them to believers that maybe girls can train them properly!! lol So looks like I have me a regular gig training a footy team haha how fun!

On the way home - not sure what possessed me, maybe carb depletion making my brain not think properly - I decided that it would be a good idea to stop at one of the gyms I work at cos I knew they had a boxing session on tonight. OMG not the smartest idea I have had lately but what an awesome workout. I think I have definitely earned tomorrow night's cheat meal....I am hanging...thinking about 3kg of pasta would be a good idea to prepare me for another week of carb depletion!! lol

Not sure what is on for the weekend - too exhausted to do anything tonight, besides I am working tomorrow!

Anyway on that note I will love you and leave you all. Hope you all have a great Friday night and for those in Sydney who are heading to Mardi Gras tomorrow night have a ball!! Lol

Til next time, train hard and be good :)

NEED....CARBS....

OMG! I am on day 2 (yes I am aware it's only 7am) of carb depletion and I think I am dying!! lol

Clearly Mike isn't wrapped that I haven't been dropping much and he emailed me my new diet on Monday arvo. Today is a non-training day which means pretty much ZERO carbs (aside from veges but they don't count if you ask me) and the other days include a tiny bit of oats for brekkie (and I mean tiny - he's even cut them down) and that's it. Can I tell you how much I was looking forward to my post-training shake last night!!! lol how SAD!!

It's only temporary to give me another kickstart but (scuse my language) FUCK ME!! I was dead last night - not a good way to be training legs given it's my mega session (I love smashing legs lol)

ANYWAY enough of my whinging.

So I went for that interview the other day - and on the way there, I got a call from another gym I had sent my resume to, wanting me to go see them. So I went to the first one, and it was bloody unreal. It has state-of-the-art equipment, including a range that was imported from OS and I have never seen this gear in any other Aussie gym. It was bloody unreal. The owner got me to try it out and I am in love (can you say that about something like a lat pulldown machine??) Anyway it all seemed to go well, the owner told me he liked me, I was the first person they interviewed, and said he would give me a buzz in a few days.

I then rushed off to the second interview and got the job on the spot - quite literally - I started there yesterday!! I am working there today too from 9-3 then start at 4 at the other gym I'm working at and work thru til 9pm. Lucky Wed is my newly included 'rest' day from weights - I think I'd struggle to train otherwise. As it is I was up and on a run at 5.30am to get cardio session 1 in for the day - then back to have brekkie, cook food for today, BLOG, and at 7.30 going on a half hour walk so I can fit it into my day!! Wednesdays are going to be hectic by the looks of things.

BONUS - cos I got a job so quick - was able to tell the lady that screwed me over then rang to apologise - thanks but no thanks. Good feeling.

Anyway better jet, have some washing to hang out before my walk then it's go, go, go for the day. On no carbs. Wish me luck lol.

Til next time....be good & train hard :)

Sunday night - my least fave time of the week (unless it's summer, off-season, and I'm sitting in a beer garden eating a good burger with a coldie in my hand).
BUT I'm hanging with the TANK so it's all good :)

It's been a pretty low key weekend which is nice - have been enjoying the relaxing weekends lately, doesn't happen that often so lapping it up.

I ended up getting a call yesterday from the owner of the gym that screwed me over job-wise (see initial blog I think it was for details), apologising for what happened and basically offering me a fair amount of work. Within about 10 mins of that call I got another call from a job I recently applied for (awesome gym) asking me to go in tomorrow for an interview. Lol when it rains... I am really hoping to get the latter one - so keep your fingers crossed for me.

I didn't go the Thai for my cheat last night. I had dropped by my parents' place in the afternoon (mum had gone away for the weekend though) and dad was going out last night but asked if I wanted to go out with him for dinner first. We went to a local Italian joint that does awesome food, and I had a combination of my 2 faves - pasta and pizza....was so good. And was so nice to spend time with dad, don't hang out with him that often and I really enjoyed the company. After dinner was going to catch up with my bestie, and we decided we would have dessert - so I stopped at the local servo to pick up some ice-creams YUM!! I was procrastinating on what to get and then decided on the Cappuccino Magnum... combination of ice cream, coffee flavour and chocolate - how can you go wrong!! Had never had one before and I enjoyed every single bite!!

Worked today then headed to Miss Ferny's place this arvo. We went for an awesome walk in Bondi and then had dinner, Fern cooked us fish & salad, was YUMMO - and so nice to share a diet meal with someone else for once!! lol

We've just been hanging out and looking at some of Fern's old piccies - comp stuff, holiday stuff....and a nice video of her Vegas wedding to a member of her Contiki tour group lol
It is awesome just to hang and have company - it's weird, I am loving living alone again for the first time in years but it makes me appreciate just chilling in front of the tele with someone. Oh and that someone who is creative enough to have made dessert out of plain coffee!! Lol how good is freezing your fave things when you are dieting!! (ever tried frozen protein shake? it rocks!!)

K time for me to jet, the Fernster is out of the shower and I am being a rude guest hogging her Mac!! hehe

Til next time - be good and train hard.
