28 Question Meme

I found this questionnaire on some other dude's blog - who also incidentally "borrowed" it from somewhere else...anyway it's questions I haven't answered before so why not?

Here goes:

When showering, do you start the water and then get in, or get in then start the water?
I start the water and let it get nice and hot before getting in. HATE cold showers!!

Do you read the labels on your shampoo bottle?
Depends on my hair colour at the time. I do when I am blonde, as I buy blonde hair shampoo to try and deter my hair from turning that ugly yellow colour.

Do you moan in the shower like the people on the Herbal Essences commercial?
Um...no. Think my housemates might think I am a little nuts if I started doing that shit. But even when I lived alone...no.

Have you ever showered with someone of the opposite sex?
Yes.

Have you ever been forced to shower with one of your siblings?
No - but I am pretty sure there was a picture of my bathing with my brother as a kid that made it onto the photo board at my 21st. I am also pretty sure that everyone I know has one of "those" photos.

Have you ever brushed your teeth in the shower?
I have tried it once after having a flatmate who used to do it, but it's definitely not something for me...

Have you ever dropped your soap on your foot?
If I have, it wasn't a memorable experience.

How old do you look?
Um, not sure - it's not something I think about. I get told that I look mid-20's and when I compare myself to some of my old schoolfriends I look younger than some of them - would imagine it's the lack of husband/kids ;) hehe
Mind you there are some days where I feel like I look 40? Tired days I think.

How old do you act?
It varies. I can act my age or older, but have also been known to break into random moments of acting like I am 12...

What's the last song you sang?
Honestly - not sure?? I listen to my iPod in public a lot - doing cardio at work, on the bus...so I am pretty conscious of not breaking out into random song. It would probably have been something in the car on the radio.

Have you recently become a member of anything?
Well I haven't gone and joined the Ku Klux Klan or anything random like that, if that's what you wanna know. I did recently join a new health fund though - does that count? I got a member card...?

What are your plans for the weekend?
Hmmm today I am going to see Di (my coach) and we are practicing posing and doing some cardio together. Then I am officially moving to the new pad (I say "officially" cos most of my gear is already there - the only stuff that now has to make it's way over is my bedding and the clothes on my back, and my laptop pretty much!). Not much else planned - think tomorrow night I am going to the Gold Coast for dinner and movies with some friends down there.

Do you kiss with your eyes open or closed?
Closed.

Whats the sexiest thing about Condoleeza Rice?
Clearly and American quiz. I will just skip to the next question cos I can't think of who I could write about in Aussie politics? Maybe Tony Abbott and his sexy budgie smugglers? Eewww...I think not!!

Does anything on your body itch right now?
Actually, yes. I got the pig flu needle last week (almost 2 weeks ago actually) and the spot on my arm where they jabbed me reacted (big red bump for days afterwards) and has been itching since. No more pig jabs for me - it is quite annoying!

Who's the sexiest famous woman alive?
Disclaimer: I am answering this on a count that there is a male version of this question following.
Once upon a time I would have said Angelina Jolie, hands down. But now she's gone all mumsy and human rights and while I appreciate how great that is for humanity - well she has lost the hotness factor. Brad Pitt hasn't done her any favours, it would seem!! lol

Who's the sexiest famous man alive?
Fabio Cannavaro. Mmmm. Love World Cup time - too bad Italy got booted out after the first round.

Does every family have a crazy uncle?
Yeah, I am pretty sure they do!

Have you ever smuggled something into America?
Funny you ask. Yes I have. Laundry detergent. No I am not shitting you. I nearly got arrested in San Fransisco airport 9 months after 9/11 happened for having laundry detergent in my bag while trying to board a flight to New York. I actually had to sign a waiver, stating that I acknowledge they were taking my "dangerous goods" for testing, and if it came back positive for certain substances, I would be liable for a $US250,000 fine and 5 years imprisonment. The entire airport was pretty much gathered around to see what the fuss was about, and my passport was then flagged for 2 years afterwards. Everytime I tried to board a flight in the next 2 years (anywhere - USA, Australia, Europe) I got stopped as I was about to walk on the plane for "random" security checks. Quite inconvenient, and I can't tell you how many flights I missed during this time due to the "random" checks!
Can look back and laugh now but at the time it was quite distressing.

Does playing the guitar make a girl/guy more attractive?
Typically, I would say no - but I have seen it give some serious sex appeal previously so it can do when in the right person's hands.

Do you live in a city with a good sports team?
Broncos are ok I guess...

Have you ever finished off the popcorn and ate the junk from the bottom of the bag?
Can't even remember the last time I ate popcorn to be honest but YUM! lol
The answer is probably yes - I am sure I would have done that at some point.

Have you ever had sex in a tent?
No.

What about in a boat?
Nope. Clearly I need to be more adventurous? lol

Have you ever dated a Goth?
No.

Can you fix your own car?
Depends what's wrong with it but probably not. That's what's great about having revhead mates ;)

Would you want to kill George W Bush yourself if you were guaranteed to get away with it?
Nah, I'd just poke him.

Should guys wear pink?
If it looks good on them, then it usually looks really good. But some guys just can't pull it off.

Countdown begins...in T minus 26 hours...

Saturday night, and two weeks in a row I am at home...and I haven't even started prep yet!!
I am not quite sure where this week went but it just seemed to fly by. I always find that as the year goes on, the time seems to go by quicker and quicker.

It's been a pretty good week training wise. Those who are FB friends with me or are over on Lindy's Forum will prob have read about my little bout of muscle soreness earlier in the week. On Monday morning I was training legs, and there was a fire in the building my gym is in, so we got evacuated mid-workout. I was in the 2nd last set of my 2nd last exercise when we were evacuated. By the time we were allowed back in I had no time to finish - had to have a quick shower and get to work. I might throw in here for good measure that I was very tempted to exaggerate to work the length of time the evacuation went for, finish training, and head in a bit late - or call in sick - but me being me, and having my conscience - well that kind of stuff just doesn't eventuate!! Anyway I figured that I would just finish the workout off when I went back after work for cardio - only when I got there, it seemed pointless doing 4 sets of one exercise. SO - I figured I would just do the entire workout from scratch. And being the bright spark I clearly am - I even thought I would increase some weights and set some new PB's on leg press, leg extensions and seated hamstring curls. Smart, Vic. Real smart. Anyway did a bit of walking after the workout to flush the legs and did extra stretching as I knew that I had exerted myself beyone my usual standard. Did it do any good? Not much. By mid-morning Tuesday - I couldn't even lift my feet off the floor. No shit. I actually spent the day SHUFFLING around the office, kinda like a penguin. I ended up booking in for a leg massage that night as I couldn't take the pain in my quads and the anterior tib (front part of the calf, along the shin bone). Oooouuuccchhhh it was NASTY!! hehe

Anyway massage seemed to do the trick cos I was able to do the stepper on Wed night.

So anyway that was the highlight of my week (I lead a sad life, yeah?) lol. OH - one more highlight - after said leg massage I went to check out a new share accommodation place and LOVED it. There were others checking it out too so wasn't sure if I would get it or not - but Sharleen, the girl who lives there, called on Thursday to ask me if I still wanted to move in! YAY! So I went and handed the forms into the real estate today and all being OK I move in next weekend.

I also booked flights today to Sydney for 2 weeks time. I am surprising my mum, whose birthday is next weekend (but I am moving so can't be there on the right day) and also my cousin Dani who has been my biggest supporter over the last few years and makes an effort to come to as many of my comps (and other functions) as humanly possible - it is her 30th party that weekend. She has been organising this night for about 6 months, she has hired out a function room in an exclusive bar and has a theme 'A night at the Mansion' and I was spewing that I was going to miss it....BUT not so anymore. I am not telling her I am going (she was disappointed I wasn't gonna be able to make it), I messaged her bestie today and asked her to discreetly add me to the door list if possible....I so can't wait to surprise 2 of the most important people to me :)

Hmmm so prep starts in a day and a bit - and I am a bit excited. Was going to finish my off season by eating everything I crave while dieting - but guilt got the better of me. I kept today to one cheat - had clean food all day and ate ice cream for dinner (no shit, I actually got a take home tub of Rocky Road; Coconut and Peanut butter chocolate from Baskin Robbins and ate it for dinner); and will prob have a cheat tomorrow (chocolate? or nutella? or pizza? not sure yet)...and then GAME ON!

Anyway I think I have done a fair bit of ramble this post so will leave it at that for now...

So til next time - train hard and be good x

Weekend

Aaahhh weekends, how I love thee.

I have had a very quiet weekend, which is just what the Dr ordered me thinks. It has done me some good :) and I feel pretty rested - which is a good thing seeing as the plan is to be up at 2am to watch the Italy v NZ game! Me and my soccer...I swear the World Cup is the highlight of every 4 years for me...even if it *does* mean little sleep!

Since last post I haven't done anything major. Friday I did cardio after work then stayed at home and listed to the flatmate snoring on the couch while I watched the footy. Yesterday morning I was up, bright eyed and bushy tailed, and tracked off to the Goldy to see Di. Her gym is so cute, I loved it! So we sat down and went over a few things, devising plans for my prep, which starts in a week. IFBB QLD & Aussie titles, here I come! My plan was to then head over to the new World Gym, Ashmore, as it was Open Day, and train there. Was supposed to be legs day but they were still way too sore from Tuesday's crazy session, so I had decided in the morning to do back instead. During my meeting with Di she mentioned that she was heading over to World herself to train with the fab Donna Jones. They were also training back and invited me to join them - which I jumped at!! These women are a huge inspiration to me so doing a training session with them was cool!

So the session went well - always awesome to train with others every now and again when you are used to training on your own all the time - it's so good to have a spot so you can lift that bit heavier, and also to train with women who train heavy and hard is always unreal!! The gym is also awesome too - not that I expected any less having trained several times at the Sydney World Gyms. We went for coffee afterwards and then I headed back to the open day to catch up with some of the ASN guys. Organised a bit of an eat off for next weekend while there, to say goodbye to my off season in style!! hehe I so can't wait!!

Took myself for some retail therapy afterwards and there may have been gelato involved...lol...

Spent the night perched on the couch watching a dvd and eating Thai in a box - I rented 'It's Complicated' with Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwyn and Steve Martin. GREAT MOVIE!! I absolutely loved it. Stayed up and watched the Socceroos match....not happy Jan! I can't believe they red carded Kewell!! What a rort. Oh well - there is still a slim chance they will get through, but a chance nonetheless!

I am about to go do some groceries (fun lol) and off this arvo to catch up with the lovely Fernster for a walk, YAY! Can't wait!

On that note, I'm outta here dudes.

x

Wow, two posts in two days...?

Yep - you are seeing right. Two days in a row. I must be going for Blogger Of The Year award...

I am posting mostly about my dumbfoundedness (did I just invent a word?) over some ongoings in the fitness industry. Normally when I go to the gym (to train, not work), I get in a zone. I appear to be of sound mind and alert but really I am in my own little bubble, and don't really care much for what is going on around me. I just do what I gotta do, and get out. Anyway back to the story. So the last week or so I have been a little more aware of things happening around me.

Now, I have recently become a member of a chain of gyms, which allows me to train basically in any of their clubs. And the stuff I have observed of late just astounds me. I would say the ratio in this chain of personal trainers to attending members (I say 'attending members' as it's a well known fact that the majority of people who pay for gym memberships don't actually ever use them on a regular basis) is roughly 1:2. Yep, one PT for every 2 people in the gym. Maybe that's an overestimate but at the times of the day I train (early morning then right after work) it's about that high. So the place is SWARMING with personal trainers, along with other assorted gym staff. Many of whom I assume would at least have their Cert III in Fitness.

So last week I notice this lady, who I would guess is in her late 50's / early 60's, doing single arm dumbbell rows. Awesome. I love that ladies of that age know the benefits of weight training. BUT while observing her last week, I noticed that her posture while doing said exercise was terrible. The curve in her back kind of resembled the Golden Arches. So here she is, performing the exercise with abismal form (I am not here having a dig at her - my thought is that she was never shown this exercise properly), and about 15 personal trainers walking around. Do you think any of them corrected her form? I didn't observe one trainer say anything to her. Clearly my observations were pretty accurate, as this morning, I saw the same lady, doing the same exercise, with the same arched back. Not good form at all - but even poorer form of the gym staff - THREE of which I saw watching her - not saying anything.

Likewise, this morning I am doing my thing, and the dude on the incline bench next to me, doing incline DB chest press, wearing THONGS (to any international readers, by 'thongs', I don't mean underwear thongs. That would be kind of weird if I knew that's what this dude was wearing, and even weirder that he had more than one on! By 'thongs' I mean what you may refer to as 'flip flops' or 'jandals' if you are a Kiwi). Yeah, that's right - thongs on a gym floor. WTF??? I know I have only just moved states, but I am pretty sure it's not just New South Wales OH&S rules that stipulate anyone on the gym floor MUST BE WEARING TRAINERS?!?! Again - not ONE person said a word to him. Just my personal experience, but my thoughts were - no trainers, no entry. At least that's how it has been in every gym I have ever worked in?

And then there was the PT, who was doing a session with his female client right next to me, talking about bodybuilding and figure comps. He points out a chick on an elliptical trainer, who happened to be lean - but reed thin - and gave his spiel about why she would be the perfect figure competitor, and how it's harder for anyone who has any kind of shape apart from being naturally lean to do well in bodybuilding. On the contrary - I would argue that most people who are naturally lean find it very hard to develop the shape to do well. That's not to say it's IMPOSSIBLE, but speaking from someone who fights tooth and nail to get lean for comp, I wouldn't have it the other way round for anything - as I know so many girls who can't put on muscle - an area I don't seem to struggle in. BUT what do I know?

Anyway I know, pick, pick, pick. But hey, it's my blog and if I can't vent here, where can I???

Hmm...so onto a happier note. My tattoo is healing up nicely already! I didnt post a pic yesterday so here is one -

This was taken the day I got it so it's still a bit red in the pic...but all getting better now. It's not even itchy, which is weird - normally the healing bit is torture cos of the itching!! lol

Hmm nor really much else to report so on that note, it's pretty well bed time for me. Til next time...over and out :)

I'm still alive

Yeah I know, I know, I suck at this consistency thing!! I am hereby making a hand-on-my-heart vow....I will be blogging at least weekly from now. I need to get the accountability up and also just get shit off my chest every once in a while!

So I'm in Bris Vegas, been here for 3 weeks now. Slowly settling in and getting used to the place. I started my new job a couple of weeks ago and it's going awesome. I really missed this kind of work a lot and it didn't take much to get back in the swing of it. My boss has told me she is really happy with the work I am doing already so that is always awesome feedback :)

I have spent every weekend down the Gold Coast (at some point anyway) so far. The first weekend was the Asia Pacifics comp where I got to watch the likes of Fern, Raechelle, Selina, Shannon (and obviously many others) do their thing on stage - and do it FABULOUSLY!

The second weekend I went to the NABBA/WFF Southern Hemispheres, where I got to see Tara, Jeh, Michelle N, Di etc on stage....it was my first time watching a NABBA/WFF comp and the standard just blew me away! It was insane, and so awesome and inspirational to watch.

Then there was last weekend - the long weekend. God bless the Queen. I love that we celebrate her birthday with a long weekend when the Poms don't even get a public holiday for the event - that's true Aussie spirit for ya!! :)
SO my weekend was spent on the Goldie again - for the whole weekend. My bestie, Meegan, flew up on Friday night from Sydney and stayed til Monday night. We stayed at a friend's apartment in Burleigh Heads which is currently vacant, and had a ball. Friday night we didn't get there til about 8pm so headed straight for dinner to a Thai restaurant, it was lovely and we washed it down with a really nice drop of red. Saturday we headed into Surfers and got some pampering done, then caught up with one of our old schoolmates who has moved to the Gold Coast. He had some friends from Noosa down for the weekend too so we all caught up for a bite to eat and a few bevvies at Titanium bar, which overlooks the water in Surfers. It is such an awesome spot! That night we headed back in and had a pub dinner then met up with an old friend of mine, Nick, who also moved up to Surfers a few years back. A great night it was and was so good to catch up with everyone on Saturday.
Sunday was spent shopping, we went to Robina Town Centre and shopped, shopped, shopped. We had dinner at the Hard Rock and then went into Broadbeach for coffee after dinner. Up early on Monday morning (well I was anyway) to watch the Socceroos get annihilated by Germany :( and then a run along the beach. I ran from Burleigh all the way to Nobby's beach and back, which included 2 big hill sprints and stair runs (down then up 100 stairs or so). Monday we went into Surfers for me to get my new ink done...I got a cross on the back of my neck. I LOVE IT!! Then we went for more retail therapy at Pacific Fair, and then back to Burleigh for Cold Rock on the beach. It was such an awesome weekend - am so grateful to have a bestie who came up to keep me company over the long weekend.

SO...what else...OH...comp prep starts again next week. Prepping for the IFBB's - Aussie titles and undecided about the QLD titles which is the week earlier. I have a new coach and am stoked to say that I will be training under the FABULOUS Dianne Hunt - I can't wait to get cracking!

So I think that brings me up to date in posts...lol...and I SWEAR I will post more often!!

So til next time...train hard, play hard, and be good xx

Misc.

So, thank you to the fucktards who clearly deliberately posted massive comments in some Asian script. I have now turned comment moderation on, so basically - in a nutshell you won't be making any special guest appearances on here anytime soon. Thanks for dropping by though.

So things are falling into place even moreso now. I was trying to work out storing all my gear etc (furniture and stuff) and dad came up with the idea to sell it...cos, well, storage costs a fortune. And if I decide to get my own place after a while, well moving all my stuff up there is also going to cost a fortune. So enter Facebook. God bless. I advertise on there and BAMN! Within like an hour I am getting emails and phone calls. So this dude came to look at it all yesterday morning and is taking more than half my stuff. Which makes my life so much easier. Was thinking of having a garage sale this weekend but would prefer not to have to, so fingers crossed I won't.

Packing is well..yeah it's packing. The thing with this move that sets it apart from other moves is that I can't take much with me. SO I am literally going through every SINGLE piece of paper in my house to see what is important, what can get chucked, and what can stay in Sydney, stored at my parents place. Anyway so I come across a letter for an old Super fund, saying that they were cancelling part of my policy due to no contributions for a certain period of time. Now, I was still employed by this former employer (not mentioning any names here but let's just say that it was NOT the bank i used to work for and it's NOT my current employer) for about 9 months after the date the letter stated the last contribution was made. So I spent some quality time on the phone with this Super fund this morning, confirming the last date of contribution by this particular employer. And it was as the letter stated. I then spent some more quality time on the phone with the Tax Office making a complaint and launching an investigation into this matter. Now I might add that there are several of my former colleagues in the same boat as me, most of which have complained about this and have also walked out because said employer has not followed through on promises to rectify the situation. Anyway - lesson learnt from this...READ YOUR MAIL VIC!

Um not much else going on aside from that. I taught my last spin class tonight...was a good one too. Some stuff happening on the boy front, wouldnt you know it, just as I am leaving a whole bloody wad of opportunities have opened!! Oh well. Maybe a sign of things to come up North? hehe

Anyway that's about it from me for now. My life is boring and filled with boxes and papers right now. Hopefully this time next week it will be filled with vodka and lemonade.

x

Hmm

Morning all. Wow, I just read last night's post. Clearly someone shouldn't be blogging on no sleep!! I would apologise for it but in all honesty, it's just the non sugar coated version of how I feel about people leaving comments in a language that I can't even phonetically (spelling?) read let alone understand. I have noticed it happening randomly here and there on my posts and if I could be assed to check the comment moderation thing then I would be filtering them, believe me.

OK so rant over.

Everything has been going swimmingly for me. The expo (Filex) was awesome fun, I caught up with so many friends, both old and new. That's the thing with Filex, you literally take 2 steps and bump into someone you know. Anyway I had a ball and got loaded up with lots of supps and some new pretty cool training gear from Black & Blue - what an awesome brand. I love their gear - it's sooo comfy.

So things are falling into place with my move. I handed in my notice on Monday and finish up one week from today. I then have about a week and a half in Sydney before driving up to Brissy, where I have about 5 days to chill and get my bearings before starting work.

I had the real estate come past yesterday to discuss prices for renting my place out etc. One of my mates since emailed me saying him and his gf might be interested in renting it out which will save a lot of headaches (will still go through the agent though, never mix friends/family and business I say without safeguards in place). The other thing is that sadly I have to leave Felix and Trixie (the pups) behind. I just can't get them up there. But my friends who have 2 little boys have so kindly offered to "adopt" them, sending me weekly pics and updates. I am sad to have to leave them here but glad to know they will be loved and will remain together. I won't go into more detail at the moment cos I am a little emotional about it but I know it's best. They will be around people all the time and get more attention than I am able to give them at the moment. Things with work have been crazy for months, and I have been working ridiculous hours, accepting any shifts I can just to get by, leaving me little time to focus on them. Anyway...I know they will be happy in their new home.

Um not much else to write at this stage, except the obvious, being that PACKING SUCKS MAN!!!

So on that note, will love you and leave you. Vic x

WTF?? (**rant and language warning**)

Ok, seriously, I am over this shit.

WHAT THE FUCK IS WITH PEOPLE LEAVING BULLSHIT COMMENTS IN ANOTHER LANGUAGE ON MY FUCKING BLOG

Seriously. Write in fucking english or don't write at all. I am over rubbish comments being left and you are half the reason I can't be assed to blog most of the time.

The end.

Big news

So...I have some news.

I went to a job interview on Tuesday morning. Not your regular job interview, I might add. A video link interview. Meaning I was interviewed over a TV screen. Was the funniest thing ever - thought it would be very nerve wrecking but was actually pretty cool. Me in one room, looking at a massive TV screen, where on the other side sat my 3 interviewers. Anyway interview went really really well, I walked out feeling pretty confident.

I will cut a long story short and just say that yesterday I got a call to offer me the job.

So I am leaving the fitness industry (well full time in any case - will keep PT'ing on the side) and going back to what I used to do. Only I'm doing it up north.

In Bris Vegas.

I'm moving baby!!! Come 3 weeks time I will be packing my little green machine, Harry, and we will be taking an adventure. I am so excited (but very nervous!!), it's gonna be a massive change...new job, new home, NEW STATE!! BUT I have some fabulous friends up in QLD so that should make things a little easier :)

I haven't told work yet as the bosses were at Filex yesterday (and even though I was too I didn't think it was an appropriate time or place to make such an announcement) so have had to keep quiet on FB. So Monday will be putting in my notice, will work for 2 weeks then take 2 weeks leave to move and get settled before starting the new job on 31 May. It will be very hectic cos in that time I have some of my girls competing in the upcoming comps - the INBA Sydneys will be on the 16th May and the ANB Sydneys on the 23rd...and my plan is to leave Sydney either the 24th or 25th...so will be cramming! In that time I also have a house to pack and try and get some tenants in to rent etc...

HECTIC but EXCITING!

OK change of subject. FILEX weekend...ooohhh how I love it.

I went yesterday for the industry-only day and saw lots of fabbo people and things...and brought home lots of goodies (some paid for, but mostly samples - I think I have enough protein samples to get me through about 6 weeks on a comp-prep style diet!! and pre-workout - I scored big on those too!!)

I am heading back there tomorrow as I am working at the MAX'S stand from 12pm - so if you are around be sure to come and say hi and maybe try out the new Cookies'n'Cream flavoured Muscle Meal Cookies...OMG they are DEVINE!!

I will be heading into Filex earlier than that though to pick up some last minute things (thinking a set of the BSC Compression pants, they are dirt cheap!!) and stock up on some more goodies, God knows I could use them in my drive up North. It's all about forward thinking! hehe

Speaking of which...my move means 2 things:

1. I can now make it to the ASIA PACS!!!

2. I can now make it to the SOUTHERN HEMISPHERES!!

SO...I will be there to cheer you chickies who are competing on!! WOOT Can't wait. Bringing my pom poms with me.

So I think that is all my news for now. Til next time...stay cool and be good xx

WOW - it's been like FOREVER

Feels like it's been forever since last post. Probably cos it has. I have been a bad, bad blogger. Soz.
So where to begin. I suppose the best thing to do is prolly start again.
So long weekend has now come and gone - who knows where to, I basically spent the entire weekend procrastinating about doing my uni assignment, which was due today. Yeah I know - which smartass decided that the Monday of a long weekend was ideal for a due date for an essay? Hmm same smarty who made the last assignment due on Easter Monday public holiday would be my guess. So a whole long weekend down the tube cos I couldnt be bothered to pull my finger out for long enough to write 2,500 words of dribble and get it out of the way earlier in life, allowing me to enjoy 3 whole days off work.
Anyway. Nuff bout that.
So - not much happened this weekend. On an upside, I ate ice cream for dinner on Saturday night, and finished off the last of the easter eggs in the house yesterday. So now that the only chocolate I have lying around consists of 2 Freddo Frogs and 2 Blinky Bill chocolates (they are the cheap version of Freddo's really) I don't really have an excuse to eat too much shit through the week.
I have decided to buckle down hard as of today. And today went well.
I have just finished up from having 2 weeks off weight training, and feel awesome for it. Normally I would be going insane, scratching at the walls from the first day of not training. But I definitely needed the rest - it's been a good 5 months or something ridiculous like that since I took a break from training. It actually helped having this time off this time round - believe it or not I actually enjoyed doing cardio most days? Go figure. I am usually trying to make up any excuse to avoid it!!
So I hit the weights today for first day back - and hit them hard. Legs day, straight off the bat. I did lots too - and am already in agony. My legs feel so swollen that my skin feels like it's gonna split open! Good feeling though.
Tomorrow is back day and I can't wait!
So comps are coming up in the next few weeks. Had the first taster of the season last weekend, with the IFBB Australasians, and my first official crack at judging. It was awesome - you really start to see the competitors in a different light when you have to judge. It's very different from being an 'armchair judge' in the crowd, where you normally find a very impressive bodypart on a competitor on stage and find it hard to see past it. Anyway I loved it (although it is very tough!) and hope to have the chance to do more of it soon enough.
SO in 3 weeks there is the INBA Sydneys, one of my girls that I am training is doing that one and also 2 of the girls coming to my posing class will be competing too. Will be great to see them up on stage after all their hard work and watching them through all their changes. I will be working backstage at that comp too though so won't get to see a lot of it from the front view - only from the side of the stage. ANB Sydneys are the week after and I will get to enjoy that one from the crowd. Nothing like comp season to boost the motivation!
Anyway gotta jet - I have a big day tomorrow so need to get myself prepared. It's been lovely and promise not to leave it so long.
xx

Dating Etiquette

OK I know, I know. I have been a BAD blogger of late. Late is actually an understatement, as is BAD, come to think of it.

My name is Vicki and it's been, hmm, about 2 months since my last instalment.
In all honesty, I just haven't felt the urge to blog as I haven't had anything really that blog worthy to blog about. Hopefully that is changing.

So I went on a quasi-date on Saturday night. Quasi-date being the title as it wasn't really a date, I met up with a guy that I have met via the whole bodybuilding circle a couple of times, and we just went to a pub for some drinks. Well I should throw in here, he went for some drinks (til they wouldn't serve him any more), I decided that I didn't feel like having a big night of drinking and therefore was a little more tame.

Anyway back to the story. So this blog is about dating etiquette. Which apparently doesn't exist these days?!?!

So the guy (let's call him, hmm, Troy*) has a few drinks (fine) and becomes quite the octopus after a few bevvies (not so fine). I am not quite comfortable with mega PDA's on the first date (or any date past the age of about 17). Troy also likes everyone to know he is a bodybuilder. Troy also likes to talk in terms of "us" as though we have been together for an eternity, and as though we are destined to be together because, well, we both compete.

SO - I have compiled a list of "DON'Ts" for first dates:

DON'T:
  • Get so drunk that you get asked to leave the pub you are at on said date
  • Insinuate that the bouncer (who happened to previously train at your gym) is on steroids, especially in conversation WITH said bouncer
  • Remove your top and start flexing. Buddy, I see muscles ALL the time. Not impressed to see yours in a place like a pub.
  • Same goes for your posing routine. The people arriving and departing from the car park do NOT need to see your rendition of your 2009 posing routine. And neither do I.
  • Assume that your date wants to spend the next 10 weeks dieting WITH you for a comp she is not even doing. OR tell her that she will be cooking you chicken and broccoli in the lead up to said comp.
  • Tell your date how hot you think she is, and then follow it up with telling her your friend doesn't think she is hot. Not a good move if you are trying to get a second date - or even just get into her pants.
  • Get into your date's car with MUDDY fucking shoes and leave mud ALL OVER EVERYTHING!!
Hmm I think I might have covered it. Troy did score a brownie point for singing to me (surprisingly rather well) however I think the rest of the experience cancelled the point out. I did try to put together a list of "do's" however couldn't come up with any from this particular date. Probably just the opposite of all the above points?

Back to the drawing board for this chook I guess!

My Urban Dictionary Definition

OK OK I confess. I stole this post idea from Nicole. So, I headed over to Urban Dictionary and typed in the name "Vicki" to find the meaning. I am not so sure I like any of them!! Here - judge for yourself...

1. An extremely sexy person, who is known to be promiscuous.
"Damnnnn, that's Vicki!"

I mean, sexy - happy with that!! But promiscuous?? hehe well...i'm not even going there...

2. One of the many types of widely distributed indigenious horny mammals native to southwest britain, northeast cambodia, central Africa, Sub Saharan deserts, mines of Australia, tombs of Egypt, caves of India and university residences.
Next time you see a creature with bright white skin coat, dark brown fur around the head, and occasionally a stud in the nose, you know thats a type of Vicki.

WTF??? hahaha I'm not even commenting on this!!

3. The definition of beautiful. Strong, smart, very funny, good at anything if she puts her mind to it. Has a great personality and is sweet. Has a HUGE butt and is known for it.Usually has many nationalities, ex: french, canadian, russian ect. Very independent, sexy and trusts no one. Is a good friend, loves the outdoors. Also known to be good in bed.Has many brothers and sisters. She's flawless
Guy 1: Vicki is amazing

Guy 2: I know i wish i was dating her

Haha definitely happiest with this one. Although HUGE butt? C'mon guys give a girl a break! So it's not non-existant but it's not exactly of J-Lo proportions!! tee hee

*************************************************************************************
So onto other things. The wrist - I found out last night - NOT fractured! Hip hip hooray! If I had to sport that bloody cast for 8 weeks I would have probably killed someone lol. It came off last night and to replace it, I will be in a brace for a few weeks but it is soooo much better not having that heavy uncomfortable thing on my arm!

Not much else to report from my end...so will leave it at that :)

Ouch...

This might be pretty short...having difficulties typing as have a bloody plastered up right arm. Will come back to that.
So since last post, (most) things have gone well. Been training well and have had a busy week. Aussie day was spent at my cousin's place for her daughter's 4th b'day party. I was supposed to go to a friend's bbq but had some car issues and couldn't get there so just did the b'day party - which was actually good fun (why do adults seem to have more fun at kid's birthdays than the kids?? lol) It was a bbq too and the only downside was the heat. It was sooo hot and humid, gotta love Aussie summers ;)
That took up most of my day. By the time I got home i was exhausted!!
Wednesday was just another normal 'hammies' day. Thursday didn't start off so well. I went to the gym in the morning to train chest (least fave training session) and while setting up for the 2nd exercise, incline db presses, I did myself a mischief. While adjusting the incline my hand supporting the bench slipped and the bench came crashing down, jamming my wrist in between itself and the bench's base. Can anyone say OUCH!!! Hurt *a little* (insert expletives being called out across gym - lucky it was quiet!) but could move my fingers so didn't think much of it. 3 hours later, I start work. Hand/wrist THROBBING and swelling up into a nice lump on the top of where the hand and wrist meet. Put some ice on it and tried not to use it much.
After work I headed to the pub to catch up with some friends who are over only for one week from London (they are here for a mutual friends' wedding that is on today). Wow - it even hurt to rest my hand on the steering wheel! Anyway was great to catch up with them. Off home to bed.
I wake up Friday and knew training was not an option. Wrist still throbbing and swollen, and some nice shades of purple starting to appear. Worked all day and then off to the Dr. Let the fun begin. Turns out they are concerned I have fractured one of the carpal bones - the small bones at the base of the wrist. Apparently it is also hard to detect fractures to these bones in a normal x-ray (not sure why) so they usually order a bone scan - which unfortunately won't pick up anything til about 4 days after the injury was sustained. Anyway the one they have concerns about can be bad if they miss a fracture there due to lack of blood supply to that part of the hand and can cause all sorts of problems later in life, so until they confirm one way or the other, they treat it as though it is fractured. Enter the cast I am currently sporting, which was applied late yesterday arvo. It basically goes from the end of my thumb (not allowed to move thumb) to my elbow. FML.
For anyone that has not had a plastered up wrist...not fucking fun. It is hard work to do anything. Examples. Typing. Doing up pants. Doing/undoing bras. Putting on/taking off tshirts. Going to the toilet. Holding stuff. Eating. The list goes on. Oh, and did you know it's illegal to drive with one arm? Yep, voids your insurance. Not that I could anyway. So dad and one of his mates had to come pick me and my car up from the doctors, and he insisted I stay at my parents' place this weekend since I cant really do anything.
Anyway went out last night for my old flattie's bday which was a mission. Took an hour to get ready!! haha princess!! Today I have a wedding on and am a little worried about how I am going to manage stuff like washing / straightening my hair etc. Hmm should be fun.
OK that's it from me. Off to the gym (not joking) for some cardio, which thank God I can still do!! I may just become the next cardio queen (NOT) if I end up stuck in this thing for 6 weeks lol...
Til next time Train hard, be good, and keep your fingers crossed for me that this isn't bloody broken!

Week in Review

Thank fuck for the weekend. I think it's the only thing that kept me sane this week. Sorry to start my post so abruptly but I seriously had a bitch of a week.

Work was so draining last week, it seriously was. Busy as all hell and every single day we had betwen 1-3 staff either on leave, off sick (that gastro is STILL going around at work) or just not show up (very considerate, especially when they have back to back appointments scheduled in). I am feeling very over it at the moment (think it's time for a holiday personally) and the whole situation is seriously sapping ALL the energy out of me. No matter how much sleep I got, it wasn't enough (and it wasn't enough to start with so that didn't help!!)

Training went well for the week. Despite lacking a lot of motivation and energy I pushed through my workouts and even included some exercises I have avoided for the last few years due to my spinal arthritis. I did deadlifts in my back workout on Monday (yeah Tara...I do them for hammies too but I do stiff legged ones on leg day, did Romanian ones for lower back)...and I haven't done these in years. Didn't break any records with weight but I was so happy to have pumped out 3 x 12.

Same with quads yesterday - managed 5 sets of free squats, 3 sets of 15 reps and two of 12. I haven't free squatted in a few years, opting for the Smith machine because of the weakness in the spine, but decided to give it a crack yesterday. Again, only did 60kg so by no means a world record, but for someone who hasn't squatted in about 5 years I was pretty happy with my efforts.

This morning have started off with a half hour HIIT session (15min on stepper, 15 min on treddy) followed by about 10min plyometrics. Couldn't do more than that due to having to get home for the insulation guys, who were due to get to my house at 6.30am (who, being tradies, showed up at 7.30am instead)...God they are noisy fuckers. I had no idea it was going to be this noisy!! Roof tiles being moved, shit being dropped, sounds like someone is gonna come thru the roof any second!

So update on the weekend. Friday night I didn't do much - I did a boxing class at 6pm and no joke, I was soooo wrecked after it all I could manage to do was spend quality time on the couch! Saturday morning did some cardio and had to go into work at lunchtime to have my PT profile photo taken (?? they have decided to put pics up on the wall of the trainers). Saturday night was a friend's birthday...was looking forward to it so much as it was a friend I haven't caught up with in FOREVER. Had a nap on the couch before getting ready...and a big wind storm arose while I was sleeping. I must have been zonked out of my mind...because I didnt' even hear half a gum tree come down pretty much in my front yard. I am talking a section about 20m high, just broke off the tree on the council strip...and I didn't hear a sound, despite being asleep on my couch, which is in the front room of my house!! I am counting my goddamned lucky stars that it fell in the direction that it did, cos if it came my way...let's just say that nap would have been my last.

Anyway so after a few calls to the council and SES I left and headed to my friends' place for some pre-dinner drinks. A glass or two of wine later and I was on my way to a gooooood night!! We went to the place we were going for dinner and drinks, a country-kind of pub called the Camden Hotel. There is a restaurant in there that we were meeting everyone for dinner, and arrived to find out that they have $5 cocktails from 6-9pm every Saturday night. Gotta LUUURVE $5 cocktails!! hehe So we ordered several rounds (we got there at 7pm...you can fit quite a few $5 cocktails into 2 hours if you try real hard lol) and had some dinner...I ordered the lamb woodfired pizza - it was to die for!! They had a DJ in the bar that night so we danced the night away. Got chatting to this Kiwi dude (nothing romantic, he was just good fun and I liked his sense of humour). We were on a girls night (supposedly...however 2 of the girls decided to bring their partners to the girls' night...WTF???) and seriously, some girls can be fucking prudish. Here I am chatting with this dude and they kept trying to get rid of him like he was hassling me or something, they were actually being quite rude and one of the guys who had invited himself on our girls night was also being a prick to this guy. Seriously. I am 31, I am single. I will talk to whoever the fuck I like. And if they irritate me, I am a big girl and will tell them to piss off. So I really didnt appreciate being treated like a 13 year old who didn't know what I was doing!!

Anyway aside from that little irritation, I had an awesome night. I haven't had a big night like that in ages! Lucky I was staying at the birthday girl's place haha...

Yesterday was a big recovery day. I surprisingly didn't have a big hangover (I say surprisingly as I didn't have 2 cocktails containing the same thing, had wine before leaving for the pub, and after 9pm moved onto vodkas, followed by champaigne...definite recipe for a hangover I would have thought?? apparently not!) but I was tired as hell. It took EVERYTHING I had (and I mean EVERYTHING) to get to the gym yesterday, but I managed. I then spent the rest of the day on the couch, between napping, eating, watching tennis and recovering :)

SO...that's my week wrap up. I really must blog more often to prevent these massive posts!! Promise to lift my game!
Here's hoping for a better week at work...

13 weeks out...?

Today marks 13 weeks til the IFBB Australasians.
I woke up this morning and my first thought was that I did not want to do my early morning cardio. Not that I didn't want to do it 'today'. That I didn't want to do it two to three times a day for the next 17 weeks (the last comp I was planning to do for the season, INBA Sydney titles, is 17 weeks away today).
So I sat and contemplated.
And I spoke to one of my girlfriends, a fellow competitor, who I knew would not try to sway me either way, but who I knew would listen and help me see clarity.
And I decided that I won't be doing the comps. After 3 years straight of competing, both my body and my mind need a break from it. All the strict dieting and the rigorous training regime eventually takes it's toll and I just need a rest from it for a bit. I haven't decided how long - I may do the Sept/Oct comps, I may take the entire year off - that's a decision I'm not in any rush to make.
So I called Coach (Mike) and told him my decision. Mike is great in that he has never tried to sway me either way but he did say after I told him that he thought it was a good idea. So we will be meeting this week to work out an off season plan - something I have not had before as I haven't really had a proper off season (aside from 6-8 weeks between comp seasons, which isn't really that long). I am still planning on keeping up the training, but not at pre-comp level, and am really looking forward to having some fun and mixing stuff up, like doing some swimming or kickboxing, or maybe even some crossfit as well as my weights.
And I know I have made the right decision because I am actually really happy with it.
SO after that call, I went and trained - with no expectations of myself - and smashed out an awesome quads session. I did:

3 x 15 hack squats
4 x 15 squats
5 x 20 leg extensions
6 x 15 leg press
and followed this with 20 mins bike/x-trainer. I also went for a walk this evening "just because i wanted to", not because I had to - and enjoyed it.

Other than that I don't have much to report about the weekend. I worked Friday morning then again Friday night; all day Saturday; then today just trained and bummed around watching Foxtel. Was tempted to go to the beach since it was a ripper of a day weather wise but still recovering from last week's sunburn efforts lol, combined with the fact I was very tired and feeling like being a lazy slob most of today ;) Need those days every once in a while!

Anyway that's me in a nutshell. Hopefully a more exciting week for you next week to report about. So til next time...train hard and be good. Vic x

This is what the Devil looks like...

Cheat meal night. Chinese followed by Sara Lee Rocky Road Overload ice cream. It is the Devil. No, really. Was eating 1/2 a tub (and probably a week's worth of calories) worth feeling sick for 4 hours afterwards? You bet your ass it was!!
The end.

A Day In The Life Of....

My turn!! hehe
Kristin tagged everyone so figured why not...?

I am gonna write my typical Monday for you...my work hours change from day to day so using Monday as my example :)

SO...
About 6am - Get up, take supplements. Get dressed and go for a power walk.

7am - cook breakfast. This is invariably eggy oats with splenda, cinnamon and sometimes SF maple syrup. OK occasionally I make it into a pancake instead. During comp prep, thanks to Steph D, I also add mushed up cauliflower into the mix to bulk it up.

7.30am - eat said breakfast, usually in front of the computer while checking emails, facebook, blogs etc. Usually 'Sunrise' is on in the background.

8.30-10am - head to the gym, do weights session followed by a bit more cardio. Have PWO shake then head home.

10am - Prepare meals for day.

11am - Meal 2, then shower and get ready for work. I only live about 2 mins from work so don't have to leave til about 11.55am.

12pm - Start work. Meals 3, 4 and 5 are eaten there, along with about 11,000 coffees. Meals are usually chicken or kangaroo (or tuna if I'm desperate) with steamed/boiled greens OR a massive salad. My 2nd and 3rd meal for the day also includes rice. Mmmm carbs... If I'm not in prep sometimes lunch will be a wrap with chicken and salads on a spinach tortilla instead...mmm wraps... Coffees are normally large long blacks with a dash of light soy milk - I even do this when not in prep these days as I find full milky coffees way too heavy now that I am used to having the LB's.

8pm - Finish work and depending where prep is at might do another 30mins or so of cardio. If not, head home and play on the computer for a bit.

10pm - Last meal for the evening...either a night time protein shake (mmm love my night time protein shake) or eggwhites with cauliflower, splenda and cinnamon. I usually have a coffee here too. I know it's not good to drink coffee before bed but caffeine doesn't have a stimulant effect on me so why not!

11pm (ish) - bed

Hmmm reading that most people would find my day pretty boring!! I'm filling this in during comp prep though so as we all know - there's not a lot of room for much else in that time!! The other bummer is working hours like this, when I am getting home most of my friends are winding down for the evening so it's not like I have a lot of social time during the week - all good though, makes the weekends more fun ;)

So that's me in a nutshell!
I won't tag anyone as I know quite a few have already done this....so my tag is open to all who haven't!

Bad tan lines and other assorted stuff

Comp prep kicked off last week without a glitch. Well kind of. Monday was perfect. Perfect training, perfect eats. Tuesday I had to alter my normal training regime due to altered working hours. Opening the gym meant that I couldn't do my usual first session first thing, as I had to be at work at 5.45am and worked the close shift on the Monday night before heading to say farewell to my brother and SIL, who were leaving Tuesday morning to go back to Melbourne. I didn't get home til about 11pm and was too buggered to prepare my meals before bed, so had to get up early to do that. Anyway enough of the jibber. I finished work at 1.45pm (i could get used to the open shift, I tell ya!) and stayed back to train shoulders. Good sess. Followed the session with 20min cardio, then home to nap.
Was *supposed* to go for a walk in the evening...but tummy started to feel off when I woke up. Ended up with a bout of gastro - so the walk didn't happen as I didn't want to get caught in an emergency sitch if ya know what I mean.
Anyway the cramping lasted the next few days but that was it - no "emergencies" to speak of, so trained well all week.
Friday when I finished work at 2pm I headed off down the south coast to a place called Callala Beach. My family have been going there forev
er, and I remember most summers being spent down there. Well my parents and their best friends are down there for a couple of weeks, and being my first complete weekend off in God knows how long, I decided to head down for a long weekend (didn't have to work Monday). Arrived there in the late arvo and headed straight to the beach for a long soft sand walk. Aaah bliss. Here - see for yourself:So. The next few days went as follows:
Wake up. Go for 45min soft sand walk. Eat breakfast. Read. Eat meal 2. Go to beach. Lay in sun/swim/read/listen to iPod. Go home for lunch. Go back to the beach. Lay in sun/swim/read/iPod. Go for 30min walk. Go home. Snack. Shower. Read/watch tele/nap. Have dinner. Plodder around. Pre-bed snack. Read. Bed.
Oh. Might mention here that in between all that - and sorry for the info - the gastro returned. So that also dictated when I had to run home from the beach!! I might also throw in here that I missed an afternoon walk on Saturday due to said emergencies...which SUCKED because apparently there were PENGUINS (!?!? WTF?!?! Been going to this place FOREVER and NEVER seen penguins there??) at the end of the beach that I would normally walk to!
Anyway on Monday I woke up and went for my early morning soft sand walk but it was significantly cooler than it had been the previous few days. And overcast. After brekkie I checked the forecast for the day on my mobile (God bless technology!!) and it said that it would clear up to a sunny day, and be 35degrees. So SOLD! I was staying the day (if it was gonna be a shitty day I had resolved that I would just drive home in the morning). Anyway at about 11am it was still quite cool and overcast, so I figured the forecast was wrong (imagine that!?!) but I was still there so may as well spend the day on the beach. So off I trotted. Just like that. No sunscreen application (can anyone say DICKHEAD??), just 'kini, singlet and boardies, Havaianas, sunnies, iPod and book. And fell asleep. And only woke up cos my phone was ringing (no I normally don't take a phone to the beach but was expecting a call). When I looked at the time...I realised I had been asleep for an hour and a half. NINETY FUCKING MINUTES!!! And in the meantime, the clouds had cleared to make way for an insanely HOT day. And I had fallen asleep. With no sunscreen. And wearing sunnies. YEP. I got burnt. And I got a LOVELY tanline of SUNGLASSES on my face!!! OMG hilarious!! Anyway must say that I got a few interesting looks that afternoon when the redness set in and I arrived back in Sydney. I went to the gym I work at to train (AWESOME SESSION!!) and had a few laughs.
Tuesday morning and the tummy issue still hadn't left the building (although on a happy note the burn had started to turn into a nice shade of brown) so I thought it best to get to the dr. Well turns out I have gastroenteritis (gee who woulda known...it's only been here a week lol) and a fever (I seriously didn't know that...felt a bit fluey over the weekend but that feeling came and went pretty quickly, with the help of some cold'n'flu aides) and am "highly contagious"...so Dr gave me til Friday off work. Wish I had seen a dr BEFORE i came back from the coast, I quite easily could have stayed there ;) lol
Anyway it is a bit sucky cos other than some cramping which happens sporadically, and the "emergencies" I feel fine, so being stuck at home in quarantine is boring the shit out of me (haha just realised the pun!!)
So training has been a bit "how you going" the last few days cos I can't go to the gym. Did some bodyweight leg stuff at home today, hopefully I will wake up tomorrow and this will be all gone and I can get on with it!!
Anyway sorry for the epic (and gross?) post but that's pretty much what's been going on with me!
So til next time...you know the drill ;)

And so it begins...

Comp prep 2010 has officially begun and I am Big Kev excited. I am so pumped for a big year.
Day one went well on both the food and training fronts. Day two food has been spot on (and given I'll be going to bed straight after this post there isn't much more time for naughties. Training has been semi-good today. I did my weights and post weights cardio. My early morning cardio had been put on the backburner as I had to open the gym this morning as our morning receptionist is on leave at the moment. My plan was to do another cardio session tonight however after work today I had a bit of a nap (been bloody exhausted lately, but given I have averaged about 5 hours sleep every night for 2 weeks not really surprising) and woke up feeling not quite right in the tummy. The next few hours weren't my prettiest for the year to date and didn't want to risk trying cardio and getting caught in an emergency situation (I know I know, TMI). Anyway enough of that shit (pardon the pun).

So I know I have been a slack blogger lately. I have seriously had so much on in the last few weeks that it was actually nice to start dieting and all else that goes with comp prep yesterday! Between Christmas, my grandmother's 90th, having Melbourne and London visitors, hosting a NYE party and then having my brother's best mate's wedding on Sunday (they are the Londoners - he and his now wife are living over there at the moment), it has been go, go, go and one social event after another. Needless to say the diet continued to be "relaxed" over the 10 days following Christmas. Happy with that though as I didn't really overdo it and I am not going into this season feeling like I missed out on anything.

NYE was fun. We had a "good vs bad" theme at the party, I as the host went as half angel, half devil. Here are a few pics from the party:

Me and Jesus (aka my brother Joseph)

Dracula (Gab); a pirate (Mick); a terrorist (Brian - note: he can get away with that kind of costume as he returned last year from serving a lot of time over in Afghanistan...and the outfit is authentic!)Queen of hearts (Felicity); Lara Croft (my sis-in-law Rachel); a naughty nun (Kris)

There are more piccies on my facebook - it's taking too long to upload them here!!

Anyway the party was good fun. There were probably about 30 of us...I don't really think anyone was quite 'sober' but in saying that there were no messy drunks, thank goodness. We actually MISSED the countdown believe it or not - and although I could be disappointed in that I am actually happy that we were all having such a good time we didn't even realise it happened!! At about 12.05am when we were all waiting for it to happen on the radio (again, I will add that everyone had a few bevvies so noone really noticed it had passed lol) Rachel noticed what time it was, so thought quickly enough to start screaming out the whole "ten...nine...eight...etc" and everyone just assumed it was happening and chimed in!! lol too funny

Ended up with about 400kg (no I am not exaggerating!!) leftovers, between steaks, sausages, pasta, potato bake, rice croquets, bread rolls, chocolate cake, tiramisu etc etc...unfortunately I couldn't ship it all home with others (try as I might) so my dogs thought they were in heaven the next couple of days! Tonight is bin night and I was so happy to be able to finally clean out my fridge!

Anyway I have just realised the epic size of this post (and the time, I have to wake up in little over 6 hours!!) so I will leave it at that.

So til next time, train hard and be good.

Blogger Award

I have been tagged by the lovely Sandra for a Beautiful Blogger award, so here goes.

SEVEN THINGS YOU MAY NOT KNOW ABOUT ME

  • My nickname growing up was 'Squeaky'. This was given to me by my Godfather when I was a toddler and my brother has carried on using this name for me ever since. Funny enough, all his mates call me various versions of 'Squeaky' (eg Squeak, Squeakster etc) but none of my mates use the name at all. I actually think some of his mates don't even know my name is Vicki!?!
  • I have an extra pair of ribs. They are tiny, and are in the upper spine, at the base of the neck
  • I took up training a few years after fracturing several vertebrae in a car accident, to help strengthen the muscles supporting my spine and try to delay the inevitable onset of arthritis. I got hooked and soon became interested in the bodybuilding world.
  • In 2005 I went to work down in Canberra for 9 months, and would commute home to Sydney most weekends. During my 9 months there I managed to lose my licence via an accumulation of demerit points (speeding fines driving to and from Canberra...these were my first and only ever driving fines and all happened within a few months of eachother); my Sydney house caught fire while I was in the shower (bathroom fan caught fire, setting fire to the beams in my ceiling and in turn my bathroom); and my Canberra house got robbed while I was home in Sydney for a weekend (EVERYTHING in the house was pretty much gone...the furniture, the whitegoods, the food in my pantry...EVERYTHING). Needless to say, 2005 was a year I was happy to see the back of!
  • I love travelling and have been on a few big trips. My favourite places in the world (in order of preference) are Rome, Venice and New York, and I would drop everything and move to any of those locations in a heartbeat.
  • I once won an eating contest at my favourite steak and ribs joint. I polished off a 500g steak with a side of potatoes; a rack of ribs with a side of potatoes; bread; salad; and 2 scoops of Royal Copenhagen icecream. I won in the dessert round. I could have kept going too...there's always room for icecream I say!
  • I have broken my nose 5 times and HATE the shape it has been left in!

OK so now I have to tag 7 other bloggers and get you to do one of these too! SO - here goes:

  • Kristen
  • Fern
  • Tara
  • Steph D
  • Ali
  • Em
  • Frankie

So that's me done :)

BTW - I have been meaning to write a proper post but haven't felt very inspired lately (think all the excess food has made me sluggish!). I promise I will post a proper blog in the next day or so :)
